Use this thread to ask questions, give feedback and talk about the battle in general. I'd prefer very little OOC in the battle thread.

Can I bet all my money against Ryan? What are the odds?
Is gambling money on battles acceptable here?

I won't be posting until the battle kicks off now, unless I need to respond to something directed at me, so don't wait for my post Ryan.

all troop allocations are going to Ma Chao from the side of Shu.
sadly my family arrive in 8 days and I get married in 10, so please forgive me for having to pass up on this ONCE IN A LIFETIME BATTLE. It sucks, i was looking forward to fighting Brian, maybe i'll have a 2nd invasion sometime!
but yeah, i apologise. ma chao may also take anything thats in my signature, since they were the siege equipment and the troops i allocated to wu sheng tian for this battle.
p.s i will try and read it and help mikey if he NEEDS a second opinion on something, but my activity may drop rapidly within the next few days.

Well if you don't get back on in the meantime, have a great wedding man, all the best.

I would have used underlines and broken up my post to tell what men were where and all that, but I don't like making battle posts look so different from normal RP posts.
Basically my army is like this, Ryan:
--Catapults --Onagers
---C-C-C --A-A-A-A I--I--I--I--I
C - Cavalry I - Infantry A - Archers standing beside arbalests.
Sloppy, but you get it. The Infantry are infront of the archers and arbalests, but there are those gaps so the arbalests don't fire on my line's back. Troop numbers are evenly mixed. Front lines are mostly tier two troops, with some tier one mixed in, and some tier two held in the reserves.

Since Sam and Brian both questioned the factors deciding just how the charge was effective in Round Two, I will post the summary of what variables decided it.
Round Two Losses Variables
- With the current weather, the effectiveness of Ryan's bowmen was approximately 25 - 30%. (Meaning out of 2000 arrows, only around 500 met their mark)
- After Arrow losses, Deng Ai had approximately 300 mixed spearmen and 300 mixed swordsmen on his right flank.
- With the current weather, the effectiveness of Deng Ai and Xiahou Ba's crossbowmen was 35 - 40%. (Meaning out of 2000 arrows & Bolts, around 800 met their mark.) Peasant Bowmen had the same percentage as Ryan's bowmen.
- With the current weather, a perfect formation is impossible in the mud and rain. It also slightly fatigues troops even before battle.
- After arrow losses, Ryan had 1030 Light Cav charge into a spearwall of a mixed 300 Levy and Retinue Spearmen. With a mixed 300 Light Swordsmen and 300 Retinue Swordsmen as support. I had to make a call that 1030 Cav would eventually be moderately successful despite the mixed 300 Spearmen if only because of the sheer momentum.
- Ma Chao and his 'meat shield' acted as a formation breaker. His presence also slightly altered the morale of Deng Ai's right flank.
In the end, it is a hard judgement call to make since I don't have thousands of Chinese warriors in my backyard ready to replicate the situation. But I did make, what I hope people will agree with, a realistic judgment and we can get on with the rest of the battle.
Mikey's 'Recommended' Round Three Actions!?
Sima Yi: Actually engage Xiahou Ba or counter-charge with heavy cav.
Ma Chao: Don't fire on your own troops you fool! (too late)

Fair enough, but I noticed that no losses were dealt from my anti-infantry siege equipment, when I was thinking that they'd incur more losses from all my artillery than the archers.
