Charming, outspoken and uplifting. Sun Shang Xiang is a daughter of Sun Jian and has taken much of his traits; her apetite for battle and her often troublesome mouth to name but two. She's a clever and influential woman in a male dominated world and often uses her gender to her advantages; gaining what she wants from her brother whenever she can again to show an example.
Her outspoken nature comes out only around those she knows and trusts, such as her family and close friends and never would she be seen shouting in front of the Emperor or worse Ma Su; showing a maturity many didn't believe she had about her. It is for these reasons she had been used as a diplomat on a few occasions and is often used in Jian Ye to meet with important visitors before they meet her brother.
AppearanceOne of the beauties of the southlands, often only overlooked by the two Xiao sisters whom have uncomparable beauty. She possesses the light frame of a woman in the era, unable to take her martial arts or swordsmanship seriously under the strains of helping her brother. Her light frame helps her in many situations; her lightly toned muscles producing high speed and agility when needed. She has medium length light brown hair and green eyes to compliment her looks.
In terms of her clothing, she will often wear light leather armour and form fitting combat clothing, however with reluctance added she can be seen wearing formal robes when her brother wishes her so; in such times she is often needed to charm the visitors to the lands of Wu for one reason or another.
Apparel/Armour:
Light Leather/Combat Dress - A mixture of elegance and some suppport in the limbs and body. Meant for pure mobility and very little to no actual defensive value.
Weapon(s):
Shortsword - A common weapon for a soldier, SSX uses it as a personal weapon due to its ease of use and speed.
Bow - Rare to see her use it on the battlefield, however she is a remarkable masksman when the time is needed.
HistorySun Shang Xiang was threatened to have a pampoured upbringing with her role as one of the youngest children of Sun Jian, however remarkably and likely due to the constant threat of war in the time and era SSX gained noteable credits in martial arts at a young age and later archery. She was well known for trying to beat her brother Ce in sparring matches, but she always came off second best, though on several occasions neared a amazing victory.
Xiang was present in Jing during the time her father died, it was said that SSX weeped for hours uncontrollably until her brother, Sun Ce returned from battle to console her. As the Wu forces withdrew it was Sun Shangxiang and Sun Quan who aided a rearguard that prevented any increased loss of life against Liu Biao's and Huang Zu's forces.
In her own smalls ways SSX was vital in the exchange of troops to her brother and once more proved useful in the ensuing battles for Wu and the surrounding lands; she was seen as both a competant general and a clever mind in times of need. She returned to Mo Ling, soon to be named Jian Ye and was promoted to a low political rank. Her roles revolved around keeping check over the varous cities and districts and report anything out of line; boring to one as active as Xiang, but she was entrusted.
After Sun Ce's death Xiang grew closer to her brother Quan and she felt a tint of guilt fill her at realising how she had occasionally neglected him in favour of her stronger and warrior-like brother Ce. Shangxiang was said to have entered the palace upon Quan's rise to the throne, knelt before him and pledge her undying loyalty to him, in response Sun Quan offered a promotion, but again it would not be as a military officer.
On what was classified as a diplomatic visit, Shang Xiang was captured by Wei at Xu Chang. It was her words that kept her in that land, claiming she was interested in destroying relations with Shu and Wu and for Liu Bei's forces to be destroyed. Unable to convince either Jia Xu or Cao Cao of her intentions to help them destroy Shu, she was given a choice, become a standard prisoner and treated as such or join Mengde's employ as a Chief Attendant. Reluctantly she accepted the offer of Cao Cao.
What turned from hopes in dealing a clever blow to Wei through spying, she fell in love with the great warrior Zhang Liao. There time together was short, but with their laughter, their smiles and their mutual thoughts on the land, it seemed they were a match made in heaven itself, yet fate would deal a horrible blow to her heart. Away to repel an attack from Wu, Zhang Liao was taken prisoner and his life taken shortly after.
'Whatever falls on Zhang Liao, the same shall happen to me' She wrote to Sun Quan as part of a longer letter, but her words were met with an opposite reaction. Grief stricken and hardly able to think, she was ushered out of Xu Chang by Shen Ha and Lu Xiu, the latter the son of the great Lu Bu and eventually she found her way to Xin Ye.
Months she had been gone and word around China was that Sun Shang Xiang died on her way to Shou Chun to meet with her brother's invading forces, but on the contray she was alive, and she had more than just one to look after as someway on her journey to friendly lands she had given birth and the spirit of Zhang Liao lived on.
