"Great hopes make great men."
- Thomas Fuller
Name: Lu Xun
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Style: Canon
Residence: Jian Ye
Personality:
Having been forced into a leadership role at a young age, Lu Xun matured quickly. He is quite formal, but has not lost his quick-witted sense of perception. In the line of duty he is straight-forward and courageous, and knows that sometimes sacrifices must be made to benefit the big picture. He is often optimistic, yet has a malicious strain in him that can be seen from time to time. Lu Xun also idolizes Lu Meng and Zhou Yu, but secretly sees himself as their superior. He dreams about becoming Wu's finest warrior, and will stop at nothing to achieve greatness for both himself and his lord.
Lu Xun is aware of his charisma, and often uses it to manipulate those around him. However, this does not detract from his sense of loyalty and duty to his country, and to his Lord Sun Quan.
Appearance:
Standing at 5'7'' and weighing in at 165 lbs., Lu Xun is as lean and fit as they come. His apparel is dominated by the colors of scarlet and gold, with black and white trim accenting his pants and shirt. He is often regarded as a "beautiful boy", with his fair skin unblemished and his short cut brown hair swept casually to the side.
Apparel/Armour:
Under his scarlet and gold clothing he wears a set of light leather armor under a set of light chainmail. Nothing special here.
Weapon(s):
Lu Xun wields two twin sabres. Both blades are identical in make, featuring handles wrapped in supple leather for a confortable yet firm grip, two blades that are each 3 feet long and dual edged, and two handles; those handles differentiate in color. One handle is a fiery burnt orange while the other is an airy cyan.
History:
Lu Xun was the third of three boys born into one of the four most prestigious families of Wu. Thus, he was prepped for a high military ranking, or at least to be an elite warrior. Lu Xun was trained in all aspects of military combat, but his teachers soon discovered that he could never have a legendary strength, because he would never grow to be higher than 5'7''. Training changed from lifting weights to studying strategy, from hand-to-hand combat to battle simulations.
During this training, he discovered a sense of competition and arrogance against the other students. He always knew he was right, even when the other kids were just able to talk louder, and he often made up plans in his head on how he would rise to the top, toppling the stupider and weaker people out of the way, and how he would only let the really smart people hang around him. He adopted that mentality to his life style, only associating people who were notable and disregarding those who he deemed were below average.
He was given a minor officer role under Sun Ce when the Conqueror was still little, when he was but a General in his father's ranks. He rose to captain under Sun Ce, but was transferred to Lu Meng's unit once the Little Conqueror became the King of Wu. It was here that his potential grew and blossomed into a strategist that would wrestle with the God of War.
Lu Meng discovered his knack for strategy right away, and promoted him for it. Lu Xun was then required by his new rank to spent much time in the war tent, learning and creating strategies for combat. Lu Xun would later discover that these "simulations" were in fact real strategies for battles Lu Xun wasn't aware of.
It was from here that the invasion of Jing Province began. Once Lu Xun found out about Lu Meng (and Zhou Yu's) tricks, he answered venomously and sarcastically on their next "test", which was a letter to Guan Yu. Lu Xun stated in the letter that he was the new head strategist of Wu, having taken over for Lu Meng. He then spoke of how weak and lowly the officers with him were, making it seem as if his position was soft.
Lu Xun didn't know the letter would be sent. He only found out when Lu Meng told him of the secret attack upon the God of War. This excited the fledgling strategist, and a duel ensued between the three Mastrs of war, ending in a mighty draw. Sun Quan, the new king of Wu, had been receiving reports from the field about Lu Xun's progress, and when news of the attack reached him, Lu Xun was quickly promoted to full General status, and re-called to the city to act somewhat as a minister of war.
