History:
Yunchang was born into a refuge peasent family in Zhuo Country. During the escalation of the Yellow Turban Crisis, himself and his newly found friend, Yide (Zhang Fei) enrolled and were placed beneath a volunteer army beside the likes of Liu Bei. The three of them became exceedingly close, after several victories against the rabble. The notoriety of their victories began the rise to power of Liu Bei. The three of them slowly gathered strength but the small burning was put out consistantly, as the warlords of the north drove Xuande into the lands of his long seperated ancestor - Liu Biao.
However Cao Cao had other plans for Liu Bei, he surrounded Liu Bei's province forcing Liu Bei to flee into the safety of Yuan Shao, whereas Guan Yu was captured. Guan Yu agreed to serve Cao Cao, but notified him that as soon as he knew of his lords whereabouts he would depart from the forces of Wei. Cao Cao gladly accepted and even rewarded Guan Yu with the famous steed, Red Hare. Once owned by Lu Bu. Guan Yu impressed all during the next few battles, slaying foes upon foes. Liu Bei and Zhang Fei witnessed their brother fighting alongside Cao Cao during one of the battles and questioned his committment towards the oath, once Guan Yu's task had been completed and victory for Cao Cao was assured for Cao Cao in the North he began his reunion with his brothers. Guan Yu did not accept any of Cao Cao's gifts, and sealed them before writing a letter of resignation and departing.
Fortuantly for the small loyalist company of Liu Bei, Liu Biao was of a kind nature and they were granted safety upon the terms that they would defend the North from impending invasions. Liu Bei thankfully agreed and the three of them as well as the newly recruited Zhao Zilong settled into Xinye. Once Liu Biao passed away, Liu Bei was granted lands in order to expand from, the Sleeping Dragon was soon acquired and Guan Yu was granted with all affairs within Jing province, being granted Prefect of Xiangyang as well as being acclaimed as General Who Punishes Criminals.
Guan Yu was situated within the most strategic foothold of China, the central riverlands. With the lands settling down and divided finally into three pieces.. Wei, Wu and Shu. Guan Yu faced the threat from the North of Cao Cao's hordes as well as the Naval Superiority of Wu. Whilst his brother expanded westwards, Guan Yu repelled several invasions from Wei as well as surviving an arrow tipped with poison. The old veteran however faced a new threat, Wu angered by the promise of Zhuge Liang demanded the restoration of their lands - which had been delayed for too long took action and acted alongside Wei, betraying their ceasefire.
Guan Yu was successful at Fan Castle, however the fearful army of Wu was on edge at the growing strength of Shu and Guan Yu himself. The combined strength and minds of Wu and Wei drove Guan Yu to retreat, avoiding death by pure luck. The old veteran was pushed back to Xiang Yang; however he was able to solidify the defences of a few remaining regions of Jing Province.
