Worst portrayal of Guan Yu. Ever. Donnie Yen can't pass for such a role.
It will be an entertaining action film, but for fellow Three Kingdoms geeks like myself, it'll be a train wreck beyond that. Like Resurrection of a Dragon was.

Is there a second part to the Red Cliff film?
I fucking love that movie. I wish there were more characters but they did what they could.
I watched it like 3 times within a week.

There's two Chinese parts to Red Cliff, both like 2 hours long.
The western release was a single shortened version.

Like Resurrection of a Dragon was. Nah dude, the movie itself is pretty wicked. Unhistorical, but definitely entertaining. Especially compared to RotD.

And they also said Cao Cao launched his southern invasion purely for Xiao Qiao.
And gave Shu a ton of credit when they weren't involved at all aside from Zhuge.

First of all;
Ressurection of the Dragon or whatever was fantastic to watch. Show me one other movie about this era that is as entertaining to watch from an action and drama perspective and I'll eat my hat (I won't be eating my hat anytime soon).
Secondly, Red Cliff was also fantastic to watch, and was an epic in all forms of the term. Sure, it wasn't historically accurate, but very little of cinema's historical movies are all that historical if you think about it. They did a pretty good job painting the kingdoms and the conflict, and it was also very entertaining to watch.
If you want a historiography of a time, go watch a documentary. Those of us who appreciate cinema will be over here enjoying our time watching movies.

Well in response to that.
Resurrection of a Dragon was pants, in my opinion. The only good part was the final duel, the only thing that WAS Three Kingdoms in that movie was in the name and some of the characters, thats it. You can eat your hat, for Red Cliff was better haha.
Red Cliff was amazing. Not entirely accurate, but for a stand alone film it was great and contained enough accuracies to satisfy my nerdiness.
The two TV series' are the best for me. The new one is amazing, and provides fantastic character development and alternate views of how decisions were made, it makes the characters more human and less 2D in personality, love that, can't get enough of it.
Of course it's my personal preference though.

Yeah, Resurrection of the Dragon was a horrible movie. It wasn't entertaining from a realistic fighting standpoint, it wasn't entertaining from a wushu standpoint, it wasn't even entertaining from a cheesy kung fu movie standpoint.
Overall, the movie was not really entertaining. House of Flying Daggers and Hero were 1000 times more entertaining than RotD. Warlords was more entertaining. It could've been good, but it wasn't. Its potential was poorly used.

I enjoyed it, I was just commenting on how the background love story was as fitting and lame as the love story in Enemy at the Gates, and that Shu gets credit too much. I hate Shu. Seriously, that Enemy at the Gates romance was so unneeded. Directors and writers everywhere, you don't need a love story in every movie, especially not war movies.
