No, as you'll be included in the posting order and then we'll be forced to wait. so enter the battle if its still going once you get back.

Better yet, Huang Gai, can we use you as a sort of controlled NPC until you come back? That way, whily you miss out on certain parts of the battle, your character doesn't.
If we can't do that, I'll plan for a nice ambush you can lead when you return.

Think we could get the open/free rp area back out here somewhere? Make it a sub-board if need be to save space on the front page. But I'm thinking it is going to get plenty of use during the battle phases for those who aren't in the battles or are waiting for others to post.

I can work that out, though people should realize that they can still post in-character in cities.

I have a suggestion. Update the rules more and add some more in depth rules because as the rules stand now they only seem to scratch the surface with what you can do. This might be the cause of turning people away, specifically people that are new to this kind of site. When I first joined it was the most confusing thing ever because the rules did not explain what goes on.

I can work that out, though people should realize that they can still post in-character in cities. Yeah I know that, but I actually want to get to know people from other kingdoms more, since me showing up in their lands is kinda out of character.. And I'm really a stickler for keeping my character true, I can never come up with an actual reason for me to be chilling on the curb outside of, say, Liu Bei's palace. Just doesn't work for me,

We need more members. Our little community we've RP'ed with in the past has died down quite a bit but every time we try and spark a site up, we go to the same people.
Where can we find more? We need to merge our community with others.

Okay serious battle tactics question. Since the Chang Jiang would usually be seperating Lu Jiang from Jian Ye, can my naval troops start on the river?
Who should I direct that question to?

Also, how do we know how many times ranged units attack before infantry crash into them? Or cavalry? And how much damage they inflict before?
And then on a slightly different note, since tasks can't be performed during the battle phase, does that mean those of us who've recently joined Sun Ce in Jian Ye have to wait til the battle is over to increase our rank or is there the possibility of the battle taking the place of one task?

I'll leave the first question to the admin crew to answer, as I'm unsure myself and was pretty much going to test all the new rules in this battle.
However, though you can't raise rank with tasks now, the battle will be a better way overall to raise up if you do well. I'd say merit in battle > merit in ranks by a ratio of 3:1, at least in my experience on these boards.

Before I make my first post...
What exactly is the situation with the Emperor at this point in time?

yeah. he'll be castrated and recieved by sir cao cao soon though.
as for the ranged question. its rp considered, we know the range of ranged units, so an archer unit could easily get a few volleys in before a confrontation, and crossbowmen too - but not as many. it depends what the unit is, where they are and how it's generally rp'd.
in essence, it's entirely up to the moderator to decide what hits first based on how the posts were written up.

Also, proper utilization of archers makes them more effective. Placing infantry in front of them means they'll be able to fire, though if your infantry is engaged there will be casualties on both sides, so focusing your fire in skirmishes isn't a good strategy.
And, of course, high ground makes them twice as effective.
