"Huang Zhong is our bulwark!" - Wei Yan
Name: Huang Zhong (style: Hansheng)
Age: 49
Gender: Male
Style: Canon
Residence: Chang Sha
Personality:
A skilled officer in many forms of warfare. A mighty fine warrior, archer and with a wise and well trained brain. Mistrusts the young and youthful; only really having confidence in his own abilities and his fellow aged. His eagerness to outdo those much younger than him can often lead to selfishness and arrogance, although his intentions are nearly always good.
He is not a long serving officer of Liu Bei and as such his loyalty is not questionable, but still not quite on the same level as those closer to Liu Bei. He has heard tales of Liu Bei's exploits in the north and hopes to meet the fabled Imperial Uncle.
Appearance:
Huang Zhong stands at a height of 8 chi, or about 6 feet. He is nearing 50 years of age and his face is starting to show it. The first few wrinkles are appearing around his eyes, and there is a grey hair for every black one in his long yet well kept beard, as well as his eyebrows.
He shows the superficial signs of ageing, but he still has the strength to draw the heaviest bows to their maximum, and swing and thrust a sword with the power and speed of a man half his age.
Apparel/Armour:
A plain black robe covers his upper body, underneath lamellar armour which covers his chest and consists of hardened leather, which is itself underneath another set of robes, this time green with ornate golden patterns woven into the material which flows all the way past his knees. Round his waist, on top of the green robe he wears a murky yellow hip sash that hangs down in front of his groin. He has thick green trousers on below the robe (not quite as 'inflated' as in the picture) which are tucked into his shin high brown leather boots. He also has painted green lamellar armour on top of his robes, covering both of his shoulders and upper arms (sans golden animal head), as well as his hips and upper legs. Brown and green leather guards cover both of his forearms. His helmet is made from bronze, with a brown leather flap protruding from the base, covering the back of his neck; and has a white horse's tail pluming out from the back of the helmet.
For 'casual' attire he wears everything mentioned above, minus the lamellar armour and helmet, which is replaced by a simple green cloth which raps his hair up into a bun. So just the inner black robe, outer green robe, yellow hip sash, green trousers, boots, arm guards, as well as the small cloth for a hair bun.
Weapon(s): Long Sword (Level 3)
History:
Huang Zhong was born and raised in Nanyang, in northern Jing. His father was the prefect of a small county in the commandery of Nanyang, and as such, Huang Zhong was also eventually appointed to a position of relative authority in Nanyang.
When Huang Zhong was nearing 30 years old his father died, and he was promoted to Prefect of a large county in Changsha in the south of Jingzhou. After serving the Inspector of Jing province Wang Rui for 10 or so years as Prefect he was promoted to General of the Gentlemen of the Household by Liu Biao, who took over the post of Inspector of Jing after Wang Rui died. Huang Zhong remained in Changsha, along with Liu Biao's nephew Liu Pan.
After he heard of Liu Bei's impending arrival at Xin Ye, he requested to be able to travel to the provincial capital for an audience with Liu Biao. He felt like a big fish in a little pond garrisoning Changsha, and wanted to repay Liu Biao for the kindness he had received over the past few years.
