"As a roof, the land requires a support. As a pillar, the Imperial figurehead requires a base. You my son, are the base. The very foundation from which the building stands. If they break you, then the whole nation crumbles."
- Venerable Old Man (opt.)
Name: Wei Feng
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Style: Canon
Residence: Chang'an
Personality:
What more can be said about the man except that he is what one may class a true Han loyalist. Raised for one purpose and that purpose alone, Zifeng lives to guide and protect his one and only lord; the Emperor himself. It is a given that he be somewhat protective of anything to do with the Emperor be it a topic of conversation or a death threat. Truly, he is a borderline fanatic when matters concern the Emperor.
Otherwise, however, Zifeng is a little bit more easygoing. Though not a born leader, Wei Feng bears a bewitching charisma, and for this reason, people seem to subconsciously magnify towards him. "Approachable" would be the best term to describe Zifeng's outward temperament, as he maintains a balance of courtesy and a down-to-earth nature.
Though he would attempt to avoid confrontation at first, Zifeng would not hesitate to fight a battle if he felt that his ideals demanded it. Or if it threatened his Emperor.
Appearance:
Zifeng is of a somewhat lean, muscular build. Slightly taller than the average man, standing at about 5'11, he appears a dignified figure but doesn't intimidate as taller men often do. It is often stated that Zifeng's regularly dark brown straight, often tidy hair subtly changes in tone as the seasons progress. As if he were a part of nature itself.
In the summer, his locks shine in a light brown, sometimes even chestnut hue, reflecting the sunlight gleaming above. In autumn, his hair appears highlighted in several different shades of brown to compliment the bright, warm colours of the falling leaves around. And in winter, he combats the colours of the season with a greatly contrasting dark brown, even pitch black hair tone.
Being extremely close to the Emperor, it is an expectation that Zifeng be well groomed at all times. It can be agreed upon that Zifeng does not fail to meet these expectations. Often tying back his just-below-the-shoulder locks in public, Zifeng maintains a tidy, clean-cut, almost baby face if not for the single battlescar that is on clear display just below his left eye.
Apparel/Armour:
Hiding amongst the commonfolk after being made an outlaw, Zifeng avoids wearing anything distinguishing such as gold or anything of ornamental value. He usually sticks to wearing a dark blue/black cloth to cover his mouth, which wraps around his neck, acting as a scarf, before slumping over his shoulder, trailing behind him.
Baggy, dull brown almost ragged long-sleeved tops and trousers serve as his most commonly worn outfit, so as to avoid suspicion or attention, all the while concealing his hidden blade. At night, he replaces the color with black or dark blue, to provide cover and, as his other outfit does, to help him to avoid suspicion.
It has been a while since he has been in formal battle due to his outlaw status. A written explanation will be provided when that time comes.
Weapon(s):
-Short Sword
Zifeng was forced to replace his Imperial quality blade with this coarse thing as a disguise precaution. An average, economically crafted blade. Quick, easy to maneuver and overall efficient, there is nothing truly distinguishing about this certain blade.
-Hidden Blade (Please, please, please)
A family secret, the design of this baby of Zifeng's has been developed and refined over the years by ancestors in the Imperial Court. What can be seen as Zifeng's weapon is the third version. It operates from the wrist of the user, usually concealed, and , when the fist is clenched, a mechanism from within pushes it outwards with great force. The blade remains unsheathed for as long as the fist is clenched.
History:
A severe case of amnesia adds to the mystery that is Wei Feng Zifeng's early life. Whether it is an extreme case of trauma or merely a gene for forgetfulness is not known. But one thing is certain.
Something happened.
As early as he can remember, Zifeng was in the care of a respectable elder of Imperial Court rank. He had always been seen as a talented, promising youth, well versed in history and culture. There was a future for this young man. Eventually, after gaining trust and confidence from the Imperial Court, many thanks to what he thought were ties to his adopted father, Zifeng became a member of the court, allowed to unload his thoughts on matters with barely a hint of consequence. It all seemed so.
Easy.
In due time, Zifeng had even developed personal favor with the Imperial family, a familiar face under any circumstance, and a brother figure for the young Liu Xie.
That was when things started to go downhill. Feuds in the court erupted, with sour relations between Grand General He Jin and the corrupt Ten Eunuchs. Around this time, Dong Zhuo came into power.
First command. Ransack the Imperial Court.
With a combination of quick wit, above-average combat skills and a stroke of luck, Zifeng survived and escaped the outrage. And then and there, upon his return, his eyes set themselves upon the dying, blood-stained body of the man that had been his father.
"You are of utmost importance now. As a roof, the land requires a support. As a pillar, the Imperial figurehead requires a base. You my son, are the base. The very foundation from which the building stands. If they break you, then the whole nation crumbles. Do not break. For you are --"
From then and there, Zifeng was the Imperial Warden. Forever a mystery, the dying man's last comment, cut short, would remain unknown. Bearing witness to the corruption of the land, Zifeng remained hidden for a time. The sole survivor of the massacre of the Imperial Court previous. Rejoicing upon Dong Zhuo's murder, Zifeng emerged from the shadows to re-unite with the now Emperor Liu Xie. For a time, they remained together, just the two of them in a bond of unique trust.
Until he got chased out.
Out of jealousy, out of greed, out of lust for power, remnants of Dong Zhuo loyalists saw Zifeng as a threat and attacked. By efforts of close friends within the palace and more luck, Zifeng escaped with his life.
A refugee, an outcast once again, Zifeng resorted to staying hidden, meeting sources in the underworld of the city. Yet there was much talk of corruption in the Chang'an councils as underworld spies reported. Even against the Emperor.
Something had to be done.
Perhaps it was time to give the newly developed Hidden Blade v3.0 a test drive...
