“The only heroes in the world are you and I.”
- Cao Cao (in the Plum Garden referring to himself and Liu Bei)
Name: Liu Bei "Xuande"
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Style: Canon
Residence: Xinye
Personality:
"If you could find either Hidden Dragon or Blooming Phoenix, you could restore order in the empire." - Sima Hui
Liu Bei is considered to be amongst one of the most virtuous men in the three kingdoms era and perhaps the world, even today. His care extends even to those who he does not know personal, which at the current period was extremely rare.
Xuande is clearly intact with his emotions, sobbing, weeping or jumping for joy on strong occasion. He links in clearly with his working class roots and it very emotionally active. He sees very little evil within people, even of the cruellest nature; witnessing that even the darkest flower can offer the most delightful aroma. Liu Bei could be regarded as feminine, with his mannerisms, bowing before people lower than rank, crying, hugging and cherishing those around him. What would at first seem a weakness; has been manipulated in strength. It times of cruel hardship and lack of care, Liu Bei provides a caring leader; a man of ultimate virtue who proclaims to be an ancestor to Liu Bang, the founder of the Han dynasty.
Xuande appears to be simple at times, being deceived by foes or being misled easily. He is extremely humble and takes people words sometimes a little too keenly, wish no man ill health or even death – on several occasions sparing men who had plotted against his death from marital punishment. However it could be merely a ploy, though Liu Bei may feign simplicity merely to fool his enemies into underestimating him.
Liu Bei is a passionate and caring man, with a strong love for the people. His strength but also his weakness. He is a fond womanizer as well as drinker but keeps himself active and healthy both visually, mentally and physically. He finds it extremely hard to depart from friends, relatives or anyone he feels close to – which is the majority. Though extremely in touch with his emotions, he fuels them and is notably a strong hearted and fearless man at times. His courage inspires all around him, friend or foe. Liu Bei has a warmhearted aura that cannot help but draw people to him for his good natured reputation.
Xuande has no fear in getting his hands dirty, both in battle or out of it. Often seen helping locals with giving out rations, farming or just offering support. On the battle Xuande charges in headfirst alongside his frontlines; though his loss would be huge not only for his small empire, but also China – he leads by example. The people grant him strength and he doesn’t feel he can betray their courage in him.
Appearance:
Xuande is amongst one of the youngest rulers within China, he holds no scars of age, no folds in his brow nor any grey hairs. He is a handsome young man; troubled only by his people and the chaos. His hair is dark, during winter it is said to be dark brown or even black but during warm summers it has been said to turn even to light shades of chestnut. His locks when not pinned up extend down to his shoulders, but usually rest within a headdress upon his head.
He carries all the aspects of a male, with broad shoulders and a triangular shaped body; however unlike most of his comrades he isn’t as bulky and is in fact rather slender. He relies upon his pure agility and dexterity to overthrow his enemies.
Liu Bei’s face is an image, of freedom and liberty. A recently shaven face, with a clean and well kept beard and hair. He looks after himself so he is presentable as well as attractive. His body is relatively small compared to the average man; however it is important to note that his arms and his earlobes are slightly larger (which is renowned within the imperial family.)
"If you will not, O Master, what will become of the people?"
-Liu BeiApparel/Armour:
Liu Bei will change attire depending upon circumstance, usually rather fond of his simple robes when away from the front. He will be seen wearing simple robes, not only to represent himself as one of the people but also to remind others and himself that he comes from the lowest of the low. Symbolic, yet effect. His hair will often be up, only letting it down in the presence of only the closest of friends.
Upon the battlefield Xiuande wears a strict and tight plate armour handed down the generations of his family; colour in the clans colours outlining his shoulders, chest and lower stomach, the vital areas are heavily defended. Upon this he can also been seen occassionally with a helmet to defending his face and skull. The rest of his armour consists mostly of thin mail, running from neck to ankle. Liu Bei's defence is vital for the existence of the Han and he takes his protection very seriously. However his thin mail allows him to remain swift against his larger foes; to ensure he isn't pulverized immediately.
Weapon(s):
Dual Swords [Level 3]
Two simple smaller dao blades, crafted personally for Liu Bei before the deperature from Beihai and Gongsun Zan as a farewell gift in order to try and keep him and his heroes to stay beside him. The blades are swift, but precisious deadly.
History:
Liu Bei was born into a poor family, within Hebei. His father died young and he grew up beside his mother weaving mats and shoes to make a living. Even since a young age Liu Bei showed keen ambition, recorded to have been seen announcing to peers that he would be emperor of China one day beneath a tree that resembled an imperial chariot. Once Liu Bei hit adolescence he became a close friend with Gongsun Zan, a soon to be warlord.
On the break of civil war, Xuande took up arms against the Yellow Turbans rounding up a volunteer army funded by several rich horse merchants which would be where Liu Bei first encountered two locals, Zhang Fei and Guan Yu who would eventually come to be two of the fundamental reasons to his rise to power. The volunteer army proved itself, undertrained and geared it seized several victories and Liu Bei and his two vagrant officers made a name for themselves.
Dong Zhuo the tyrant rose up next, in which Liu Bei and his brothers answered the call. Rallying to the sides of the regional lords, beneath Gongsan Zan at this current point in which they assisted in the siege of Hu Lao gate before the alliance broke down. Fortunately Dong Zhuo was eventually killed by Lu Bu, who was convinced by close advisors and the threat to the throne and the country was resolved, momentarily.
The situation within China was far from over and within Gongsun’s ranks, Liu Bei helped fend off Yuan Shao, an ambition aristocrat who wished to conquer the lands of the north – potentially sending the lands into a political, economic rush for land. Tao Qian and Gongsun Zan held an alliance against Yuan Shao and eventually Liu Bei was sent to assist Tao Qian fend against Yuan Shao’s ally, Cao Cao.
The conflict in the north continued, with a triangle between Cao Cao, Liu Bei and Lu Bu snapping back and forth at each other before eventually understanding victory could not be achieved in the north, Liu Bei turned south; and seeking refuge with Liu Biao, a relative of the same clan.
