"It's easier to ask forgiveness than it is to get permission."
- Rear Admiral Grace Murray Hopper
Name: Xu Huang
Style Name: Gongming
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Style: Canon
Residence: Yang
Personality:
Xu Huang is regarded as an a stalwart defender of justice. Gongming is one not to allow corruption and abuse to exist in his presence. He is does not toe-the-line much when it comes to such things, nor does he allow his lieutenants to commit such deeds either. He will speak his mind to others when he feels that they themselves are crossing that line. However, at the same time, he means no disrespect when he speaks it (generally).
However, on the other side of that coin, Gongming runs a very tight ship. His men are tidy, neat, and ready to fight. Such things as gambling and whores from groups that normally follow armies are not allowed in his camps. He is prone to discipline when he feels such a things is necessary, and has no qualms about execution on such things as stealing and disobedience. As such, his camp is relatively scare of such groups of vandals and other such ruffians.
A smart man, Xu Huang realizes his own intelligence, and uses it to its full potential. He is not so much arrogant with it as one might think, instead he views it as one might their own hand or leg. It is simply an extension of his self.
Appearance:
Xu Huang can easily be compared to that of a wall. When one looks at him, he would appear as though he would be able to take the full charge of a tiger, and stop it dead in it's tracks. With broad shoulders, and a face the looks chiseled from stone, Gongming seems to fit perfectly with that description most aptly.
Apparel/Armour:
Starting at the head. Xu Huang wears a helmet that is very similar to those that the cavalry wear, with a stream of horse hail pokes out of the top. A iron top that sits above his brow and descends over his ears, it comes with metal chin guards (which tie under the chin), as well as a nose guard. It allows the maximum of vision, while at the same time it allows a certain amount of protection. It also has a degree of chain-mail hanging around the back of the neck.
His chest piece is a steel breast plate and covers both his front and back. It is sleeveless and Xu Huang does not wear a shirt under it. Instead he wears a leather vest to prevent the steel from cutting into his own skin. The breastplate is actually several pieces of scale-mail that have been tied tightly together. This allows so freedom of movement for his mid section. His arms he wears hardened leather arm guards, which have a steel plate on the top. A soft piece of the leather covers the top of his palms, and a string is looped over his middle finger. It is tied, as well, across his wrist and elbow.
His legs are protected rather loosely. He wears several leather strips over his groan area. Each is meant to cover all the way around, coming only a hand span above his knees. His pants are made out of cloth, and he only has a piece of hardened leather to cover the top of his upper legs. His boots do have a piece of steel to cover his shins. As well as the tips of his boots are steel toed.
Weapon(s):
Double-Sided Axe
History:
Xu Huang has a rather decent history all thing considered. He was initially an administrative officer in the Han Dynasty, but when the Yellow Turban Rebellion broke out, he joined the growing ranks of men seeking glory. He was placed under the command of general Yang Feng. He was eventually promoted to the rank of Commander of the Cavalry, a station that he did much honor in.
After the death of Zhang Jiao, Yang Feng served under Dong Zhou when the Coalition formed to fight against his growing corruption. Xu Huang still served under Yang Feng, though he himself was not a fan of the overly ambitious Dong Zhou. Yet, being who he was, he knew he could not switch his allegiances so easily and quickly. As such, he fought against those he agreed with. Eventually, though, the forces of the Coalition were forced to retreat and Dong Zhou returned back to his city, with Yang Feng and Gongming went with them.
It was not long before Lu Bu soon turned traitor and killed the tyrant, for Dong Zhou in his greed and lust had taken an enchanting dancer as his concubine, and she was the love of Lu Bu's life. Guo Si and Li Jue both seized power before Lu Bu could establish himself, and he was forced to retreat. Yang Feng himself became dissatisfied with the disorder the two imposed upon the remaining forces of Dong Zhou, and soon left, with the Emperor in his care. It would be here that Xu Huang would finally leave Yang Feng, and join Cao Cao.
For it came to pass that Yang Feng was soon lacking the character that Xu Huang expected of a leader. So when it was that Yang Feng and Cao Cao met on the field of battle, Xu Huang stepped in front of Cao Cao's army, holding them in place with his presence alone. Cao Cao sent out his general, Xu Chu, to fight him. The two fought to a stand still, and Cao Cao ordered Xu Chu to retreat. Later that night Man Chong came to Xu Huang's tent in an attempt to sway him to the side of Cao Cao. Xu Huang saw this as a chance to leave his rather incompetent and shameful leader.
With the loss of Xu Huang, Yang Feng soon retreated, leaving the young emperor in the care of Cao Cao. Yang Feng took up the life of banditry, while Xu Huang took up the life of a general under the command of Cao Cao.
