(Open to anybody, feel free to join me here, ;D )
He used to come here often as a child, both before and after he lost his family. The water was always warm here, for reasons Sun Dao could only suspect, but probably never prove.
The morning fog had almost fully lifted, but despite being at the base of the cliff only a little while ago, Dao could not see the pool of water only below him, the sun being only a few minutes away from warming the air enough to burn it away.
He sat with his legs hanging over the edge of the cliff, a small stream turned into a waterfall and cascaded beautifully over the ledge a few arms lengths to his left. The entire area up here was solid rock, and the stream cut a natural slide into the stone. As a child Sun Dao would get a running start, leaping into the groove only to slide over the edge and plummet down into the brilliantly clear pool below. Down below he used to swim in the water, and he had eventually built a rope ladder leading from right next to the pond to the top of the ledge above. It had been so long since Sun Dao had been here that one of the sides snapped as he tried to climb it earlier.
Luckily he had a length of rope with him, though it wasn't enough, it definitely would save some time. He had been working on the ladder for a while now, barely even noticing that this morning's fog had almost burned off completely. Sun Dao was almost done, he had gathered strands of bark from young branches in the trees nearby, and had woven his short rope and the bark rope into the ladder.
"I'll have to bring full lengths of rope next time to replace this.. This ladder won't last another year.." He spoke quietly to himself, but was surprised at how well his voice carried despite the sound of the small waterfall. He had forgotten how calm it felt out here.
