Name: Dailai Zhangba, "Pariah of Nanzhong", styled Kuángbào
Age: 31 (season 1), 33 (season 2)
Gender: Male
Style: Original
Residence: Kingdom of Wu
Personality:
Dailai Zhangba has never been good with people, and combined with the fact that he'd been handpicked to succeed the clan's war-chief, Dailai had always been an outsider in his own clan. Zhangba is a violent man, and has been known to start fights simply for fighting's sake. He enjoys battle as one enjoys a bowl of nachos; messy and obnoxious. He still enjoys darker operations, however, and will always take time to enjoy the little things.
Appearance:
He looks like your average Nanman officer, except perhaps with more muscle and slightly lighter skin stemming from his half Han-Chinese parentage.
Apparel/Armour:
Zhangba used to wear a chest plate under his tribal furs, which mostly cover his vitals and keep him modest but are mostly good for deflecting glancing slashes. Now, however, he wears a relatively flexible suit of scaled plate mail over his chest, thighs, shins, biceps, and forearms, but his joints are left covered only by leather wrappings so Zhangba can remain flexible at the cost of less protection for his joints. His helm has been fashioned to resemble a boar.
Weapon(s):
Zhangba's primary weapon used to be a spear, often wielded in tandem with a hide-and-wood buckler. The spear is about 6.5 feet in length, with an elephant-bone shaft and a steel point. This is kept as a memento of his former life in Nanzhong, and is often carried around Jian Ye as his ceremonial weapon (not one of the two Zhangba carries to battle).
Now, Zhangba's primary weapon is a curious thing indeed. It has a steel shaft about 6.25 feet in length (and about 6 inches around), and is double ended. One end is tipped with a studded ball (about a foot and a half around) whilst the other ends in a point and has a rather cruel blade (the bottom third is serrated). Zhangba calls it the Punisher, and many agree that the name fits it's barbaric nature.
Zhangba's secondary weapon is a steel long sword about 5 feet in length. The pommel has a hole where most swords would have a gem, and in this hole Zhangba usually ties a short loop to help him keep a grip on his blade, though lately he's been looking for a suitable gem to put in it.
History:
Zhangba was born and raised in the land of Nanzhong. He was born to a minor tribal chief, and was raised to succeed him. However, Zhangba's clan did not approve of his behavior (or his half Han Chinese parentage) and as a consequence he was subtly ostracized.
Zhangba did not let this faze him, however, as he grew to be a strong warrior, defeating almost every foe he faced in battle. However, after one particular raid, Zhangba was exiled from his tribe for reasons they would not specify. In fact, they did not even 'say' he was exiled, they simply formed a mob and chased him out of the village.
There were a few different reasons it could have happened, but Zhangba speculated that it was simply because he killed one of his friends who was raping a rival clan's priestess. It was likely that one of Zhangba's rivals saw this and claimed the woman was simply the chief's daughter, not a priestess, and that Zhangba had murdered the man in cold blood. Whatever the reason, Zhangba fled east over the mountains into Wu where he hopes he can find a good fight...
