"An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered. An inconvenience is an adventure wrongly considered."
Lei Yong
Age: 45
Gender: Male
Style: Original
Residence: Wanderer; has no residence. Sleeps out of his horse drawn cart.
Personality:
Primary Motivator: Understanding and Play
Lei Yong is always affected by his desire for knowledge and wisdom in nearly all situations. However, he is also motivated by some more baser desires; enjoying life and simply having jovial fun.
Emotional Disposition: Joyful
Having spent many dark periods in his life, Lei Yong is not the kind of person who tries to focus on the bad times. He engages in light-hearted discussion, and is a pleasant person to be around.
Moodiness: Even-Tempered
Lei Yong is your everyday person when it comes to mood. Certain things might set him off, but generally he remains his usual happy self throughout any situation.
Outlook: Optimistic
Lei Yong is an idealistic, confident, trusting, and upbeat individual. He always tries to see the glimmer of hope that would otherwise be a despairing situation.
Integrity: Conscientious
Lei Yong is hard working and industrious, and an honest down to earth person. He is responsible with any task he sees fit to take on (although that can occur at any given moment, or not at all), and is meticulous in having it being completed with great detail.
Impulsiveness: Spontaneous
He is a wanderer by nature, and as such he does whatever he feels like at any given moment. He is not deliberate, and often does not plan his actions.
Boldness: Intrepid
Like most floaters, Lei Yong is a daring individual. He is not the kind of person who can be intimidated, and he'll boldly make a stand on helping those who either will not, or are incapable of helping themselves.
Flexibility: Flexible
Lei Yong is very free swaying. His nonchalant manner has people generally agreeing with him, and he is tolerant and open minded to both new people and new ideas. He is also naturally a forgiving person, ready to mend the holes of any wrongdoing done towards him.
Affinity: Warm
Lei Yong is like a kindly grandfather (despite not being as old as one). He is nurturing and supportive of people and their ideas. He believes it's better to be near to people and help build them up, and help them without any sort of regard for himself.
Comportment: Agreeable
Lei Yong is the kind of person that you want to get along with. He's courteous and quite modest, and he appears very cultured and enlightened.
Interactivity: Slightly Engaging
Lei Yong likes to engage in many different forms of discourse, however his primary focus is to listen to conversations and watch. Because of this, he gets to know people much better than most, and this helps him in his decisions regarding things to say, or how to act towards them.
Disclosure: Mildly Secretive
Lei Yong is generally one who does not reveal personal information about himself easily. He is mysterious to those getting to know him better, but once they do, Lei Yong is a rather frank and unreserved person in telling you what he thinks. Because of his lighthearted nature, this is almost often a good thing.
Conformity: Heterodox
Many would say that Lei Yong does not conform to the cultural norms of the day. Those people would be correct. He is an arty and free thinking individual whose thoughts come off at being exotic. Thankfully for his own sake, these thoughts are normally not misconstrued at being barbaric; rather he just appears to be an intelligent but eccentric person.
Sense of Humour: Gleeful
A joyful and merry making individual, Lei Yong's humour is not mean spirited. It's full of great mirth, and generally even the most reserved person can manage a slight chuckle at it.

Appearance:
Tall, cheerful, and ever so slightly grey. These are the three words one would most often think of when describing what Lei Yong looks like. Standing at a height of 6'; something that is not very common for the time period, one would instantly believe this description to be completely true. A happy expression, and jovial smile make the second statement ring true as well. Streaks of light grey going through both hair and facial hair, as well as eyes that are dark in colour, but appear bright even after seeing many different things brings the third descriptive word to fruition as well. The brevity of the description is apt and fitting for a relatively aged, but still lively man.
Apparel/Armour:
Lei Yong commonly does not wear armour these days, as he's more content to allow himself to move freely, and not have to deal with the extra weight and added heat. When he does wear armour, it's only a close fitting cuirass of steel lamellar armour, that has no shoulder protectors. He also accompanies this with leather armbands.
His regular attire consists of medium length tunics in a variety of colours ranging from very dark reds, to deep greens and blues, to charcoal. He always pairs this with charcoal coloured trousers, and a very sombre and kind of threadbare grey over robe with white trim. On his feet he wears sturdy boots that go up to the top of his calves, and these are then securely wrapped with dark cloth. His long hair is tied up neatly in a bun with whatever sort of clean cloth that he can find in his cart.
Weapon(s):
Lei Yong only carries one weapon to his name. That of a double edged straight sword that is most commonly seen with gentlemen and those who are considered "learners". It's made from a solid piece of steel that has a keen edge. Lei Yong has not had to use it very much in his later years, however he keeps it in top condition in the rare chance that it is needed.
History:
Lei Yong's past is very simple, and not very extraordinary. He was born to a merchant family who were mildly affluent and known in his small village outside of Luo Yang, however on the larger scope nobody in China really knew who the Lei family was.
His father; Lei Fu had some non-trivial wealth and was able to provide his family with a relatively comfortable life. Lei Yong went to learn under a standard teacher. He was taught how to read and write, compose poetry, ride a horse, shoot a bow, and use a sword, understand history, and simple philosophy, as well as counting. Fairly basic education for a youngster of his station in life. However, he didn't get into the more detailed aspects of education until later in life. Things that he would eventually have an interest to; metaphysics, epistemology, music, astrology... None of these even phased him as a boy. This turned out to be a good thing. It allowed him to focus on boyish things; and gave him a semblance of humour to look back on.
This eventually went on as it did until he came to manhood. He had his formal rites of passage, and was free to choose his own standing in life. Naturally it was expected of him to follow his father as a merchant, but Yong was not the kind of person to do the natural thing. He had gone against the grain for his life, and this time was no exception.
Yong wanted to travel. He had heard stories from men and women who had passed through his village on their way to Luo Yang. Many of them had come from all across the land, even as far (to Lei Yong at least it was far), as Ye in the north. He longed to see the things they had described. Obviously he knew in his heart it was not much different than the capital, but the stories they told, he believed them to be true. He believed that places like Ye and Chen Liu could be so vastly different to anything he had ever seen. He wouldn't take no for an answer, so reluctantly his father decided to let Lei Yong do what he wanted.
He supplied him with his cart, and a horse, and some supplies and let him go off. It was unfortunate to Lei Fu that he would never see his son again.
For over 20 years, Lei Yong slowly traveled across the country. Usually he did not stay in any one place for very long. By this point in time he had managed to visit the majority of major cities in the north, and he had also recently passed through a few large cities in Jing. He had no real goal in mind, but he was simply traveling south west, towards Cheng Du. If one were to mark out the places he visited on a map, they would see that Lei Yong had jumped all over the place. He went to wherever he heard news of something interesting.
He also did not always travel alone; of course he had numerous different horses who had died, but he had come across a stray dog that he felt the need to help. They developed a close kinship, and Lei Yong would supply food for them by fishing off the banks of the many rivers in the south lands.
Where he decides to stop next though, nobody knows. Some cities he just goes right through, others he'll stay for a month or so. It's left to the winds of fate.
