Liu Bei
Age: 58
Gender: Male

Personality:
Primary Motivator: Achievement and Restoration
Liu Bei’s decision maker in all situations is his desire to achieve and overcome obstacles. These things were placed in his way for nearly his entire life, and he has always been able to get past it. Even at this very moment, there are obstacles that are in his way. However he is also motivated by his desire to build up and restore things. The old ways have fallen, and Xuande realizes this, but he knows that in order to move on from that point, things should be restored to working order. It is not enough to bring in new things, but to combine the old with the new so that they will work together and synthesize into its own creation.

Liu Bei is in general, a fairly calm person on the outset. He acts in accord to the situation at hand.
Moodiness: Even-Tempered
Liu Bei is not averse to showing his emotions; from anger to sadness, however he is capable at keeping them in check when they need to be.
Outlook: Vaguely Optimistic
By this, it’s rather not that Liu Bei is a cheery person, but rather he is simply not a pessimistic individual. He shows traits that are common to both sides. He can be cynical, and bleak, but at the same time trusting and hopeful. Generally however, he looks towards the positive side of things.
Integrity: Conscientious
Liu Bei is hard working and industrious, and an honest person. He is responsible with the tasks he chooses to do, and advocates behaviour that is based on the practicality of it, rather than having someone behave based on theory or dogma.
Impulsiveness: Controlled
Liu Bei is focused, and deliberate in his actions. Everything that he does, it is in general his intention for it to be done that way. Of course some things are out of the realm of planning, but when Liu Bei says something that could cause harm or be mean spirited, that was his intention. Likewise if he speaks words of encouragement and thoughtfulness, that also was his intention.
Boldness: Cautious
Liu Bei has gotten far in his life, by being vigilant and by not making rash decisions. It could be explained as timidity, but he is not averse to things that are daring and bold; he just likes to think about those sorts of actions before doing them.
Flexibility: Flexible
Liu Bei is definitely not a rigid or narrow-minded person. He is eager to meeting new people, and experiencing new ideas, and he is quite apt at adapting; especially given the numerous situations in his life where he had to change his ways of doing things, because of emigrating to a different area.
Affinity: Warm
Liu Bei warm towards other people. He has been in many plights, and is quite supportive of others. A kind of person that many like to be around. Like a roaring fire, he draws you in close to him, wanting to remain warm, rather than pushing away like ice.
Comportment: Agreeable
Liu Bei is an agreeable person. He doesn’t go out of his way to cause trouble with others, and he has a natural affinity for getting along with others. He's courteous and quite modest, never apt to bragging about any sort of feats he may have done in the past. Instead he prefers to congratulate others, and confer praise on their actions.
Interactivity: Engaging
Liu Bei is primarily a very talkative person. He likes speaking about numerous different things. But in this regards, he also knows it’s important to listen to what the other person has to say. He makes an effort to be entertaining, rather than bore individuals with minutiae.
Disclosure: Somewhat Secretive
Liu Bei is more of a reserved and subtle person. He’d rather not let anyone into his personal thoughts and only allows those who have shown their trust. He is subtle in that he gives rather cryptic answers to questions, not for being cryptic in and of themselves, but rather so that the asker can ponder about it.
Conformity: Conventional
Liu Bei is an orthodox and down to earth individual. He is rather formal in his dealings with people outside of his circle, and his ideals are traditional rather than lofty and grand. The cultural norms of the day are good enough for him, so he sticks with them.
Sense of Humour: Mildly Jokey
Liu Bei is the kind of person who is unserious with his humour. He’s the kind of person who you can tell is making a joke, when they are making a joke; quite unlike those dry individuals who appear rather serious in their approach to humour, and it’s difficult to tell whether or not they have intentions in being funny.

Appearance:
Tall, pondering, and handsome. If one had to choose three words to describe Liu Bei, those would be the most fitting. Liu Bei is somewhat of a tall individual, but not significantly towering over others. He stands at a reasonable 5’8”. He always appears to have a solemn and thinking look about his face. His complexion is clear, and while at one point was quite brilliantly white, he now has a somewhat tanned appearance from his many days in the sun. His facial features are distinguished, and make him look like a gentleman, despite is rather poor birth and upbringing. However you can tell by his hands, and the wrinkles on his forehead and corners of his eyes, that he has been through a great deal of trials, and has seen many things.
He was a fighter in his younger years, and this has reflected rather nicely on him at his current age. He has gained some weight, and is no longer as lean as he once was, but he is still fairly strong physically, and his muscles appear rather thick. He has bulked up in an appropriate way for a man of 58 years.
Apparel/Armour:
Being the leader of Shu, Liu Bei has excellent quality armour that is fitting of this position. It is of finely made steel, that has been coloured through a process that makes the steel appear gold/brass in colour. The armour pattern itself is of mountain cloud scale (Picture shows how mountain cloud scale is composed). This composition covers Liu Bei’s upper arms, as well as his thighs and groin area. They can be likened to “plates” made in this style, edged with a border of leather that has studs of the same colour attached to it.
His head is covered by a tight fitting steel cap that is coloured in the same way. It has a feathered plume, and attached to it around the base of it, is a leather aventail that is covered with metal scales.
His cuirass is of a high quality lamellar build, that has attachment points on the left side. This is accompanied by a simple belt of sturdy leather, from which hangs his sheath containing his long jian. On his feet, Liu Bei wears black leather cavalry boots that are polished to quite a nice shine.
In his left hand, he carries a finely made cavalry shield, which is an elongated oval in design. It’s made of many layers of wood glued together, covered by another layer of rawhide, and finally a thin layer of metal covers this, which is embossed with the design of a dragon. The shield is a centre grip shield, and has a thick metal boss in the middle. It’s designed to take repeated wear.
However, due to Liu Bei’s status as the ruler of Shu, he rarely has to wear the entire kit of this armour. It is only when he is inspecting the front, or making an appearance on the field to inspire his men that he wears the entire thing. Otherwise, he simply dons his helmet and cuirass, which is covered by a long robe.
Armour Scale Pattern
With regards to clothing, Liu Bei for the most part wears somber silk robes of any myriad of colours that are available to him. When acting in an official capacity, his robes are of finely spun silk, and have ornate embroidered designs on them. The colours themselves are not overly vibrant, but they definitely suggest elegance.
Weapon(s):
Liu Bei carries one weapon with him at all times. It’s fairly long, and is sharpened often and oiled daily. Its blade is that of a burnished steel. It has a simple fuller going down the middle to reduce weight. The hilt is coloured in a similar way to Liu Bei’s armour, in that it is steel but has been given a brass colour.
The handle has two rings in the middle of it, to aid in gripping it, and in helping to keep the edge aligned with the target at all times.
The pommel is in the shape of a disc, and has been given some fairly simple, but nice circular designs on it, that have been added to properly balance the sword.

History:
Liu Bei was a descendant of Prince Sheng of Zhongshan, a great-great-grandson of the fourth Han Emperor Jing. He lived in poverty during his youth, and his father passed away while he was still young so he and his mother made a living weaving and selling grass mats and straw sandals. At the age of fifteen, Liu Bei became a pupil of the Han scholar Lu Zhi, along with his friend Gongsun Zan.
During the Yellow Turbans rebellion, he was appointed to the position of Judicial Officer in Anxi County. He did not stay there for long, as he was forced to retire the position after beating a corrupt official with a tree branch.
Liu Bei started his military career under Regent Marshall He Jin and sough the patronage of Gongsun Zan. He was appointed as Auxiliary Corps Commanding Officer and Magistrate of Ping Yuan County.
When Cao Cao was invading Tao Qian’s Xu Zhou, Liu Bei moved his armies to rescue the Imperial Protector. In the first year of Rebuilt Tranquility (AD 196), Liu Bei received recommendations for the rank of General Who Guards the East and was given the title Lord of Yicheng Precinct.
Next, Liu Xuande assisted Cao Cao in capturing Lu Bu alive and was promoted to General of the Left. Around this time, Emperor Xian officially recognized Liu Bei’s relation to the Prince of Zhongshan and styled him “Imperial Uncle.”
Between the third and fourth year of Rebuilt Tranquility (AD 198 – 199), Liu Bei lost favor with Cao Cao by participating a plot to assassinate him. He first took shelter in Xia Pi, and later in the fifth year of Rebuilt Tranquility (AD 200), Liu Bei sought refuge Yuan Shao.
Liu Bei left Yuan Shao and after reuniting with his brothers Zhang Fei and Guan Yu, he traveled to Jing Zhou, seeking asylum with Liu Biao. Cao Cao pursued Liu Bei, and thus Xuande abandoned his post in Fan Cheng and withdrew to Xia Kou. Later Liu Bei allied himself with Sun Quan of the southlands, setting up a trap for Cao Cao to fall in. At the decisive battle of Chi Bi, Liu Bei successfully retreated to southern Jing while Cao Cao’s navy was destroyed by Zhou Yu.
After the deaths of Liu Biao and Liu Qi, Liu Bei occupied several counties in Jing Zhou. He then married Sun Quan’s sister and was officially made Protector of Jing Zhou.
In the sixteenth year of Rebuilt Tranquility (AD 211), Liu Bei went to Yi Zhou under the pretense of helping Liu Zhang fight Zhang Lu. At this time, Liu Bei received two recommendations for the posts of Great Minister of War and Commander of the Capital Districts. In the nineteenth year of Rebuilt Tranquility (AD 214), Liu Bei turned on Liu Zhang and Xuande occupied Cheng Du and the Western Riverlands. He assumed Protectorship of Yi Zhou and in the twenty-fourth year of Rebuilt Tranquility declared himself King of Hanzhong.
