"Nothing yet, SOMEBODY SAY SOMETHING COOL ABOUT SHEN HA SO I CAN PUT IT HERE!"
~Brian, 2011
Name: Shen Ha, Jiyuan
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Style: Original
Residence: The Imperial Palace of Xuchang, The Bronze Spire Castle at Hefei
Personality:
Shen Ha is a stone, stoic and immovable emotionally, and he is tied immortally to his honor. He is a man of invincible morals, an ideal knight of a soldier, chivalrous and mighty both on the battlefield and off. He speaks with the same courteous voice to his lord Cao Cao and his commander Zhang Liao as he would to an enemy he'd cross blades with in battle.
Appearance:
Shen Ha is a tall and handsome man, standing roughly 6'1" (it's ancient China, that's taller than anyone was back then...) He has a strongly defined brow with thick, yet trim cheekbones and a pointed jaw. His eyes are as a piercing obsidian marble. He is clean shaven, with straight black hair that nearly falls to his shoulders, but he mostly wears it tied back.
Apparel/Armour:
Much like this, but less stone-y and without the giant peacock feathers.
Shen Ha wears a crimson battle robe beneath a coat of dark silver mail. He has pauldrons that allow him to swing spear or sword with all his might and maneuverability. He wears a crimson cloak that falls from his left shoulder longer than his right, and it is held around his neck by a clasp of a golden tiger. Shen Ha also wears a crimson helm with a dark silver visor and a creamy dull white plume that fades into a deep red at the tip.
Weapon(s):
Spear - Fit perfectly for mounted combat, where Shen Ha is nearly invincible. The shaft is made of thick oak with silver decor twirling and climbing up to a red tassel that flies freely from the blade, making a trail as Shen Ha brandishes it along the battlefield. He can fight well with this spear on foot as well.
Bastard Sword - A double-edged blade that can kill with either end of the blade or by a thrust, easy to use by either one hand or two. The blade is a shimmering steel and the handle a red leather, the hilt has a tiger's mouth jut open in a mighty roar.
Hook Swords - Despite being unable to use them effectively, Shen Ha usually keeps his late commander's preferred blades in battle. He dreams of the day where he may honorably end Sun Quan's life with Zhang Liao's blade, an honorable death that Quan forbade Zhang Liao.
History:
Shen Ha was born a bastard not through birth, but from the fact that his father was executed while he was still in the womb. His father was a lieutenant of Ding Yuan who followed Lu Bu to Dong Zhuo, and aided in Lu Bu's storming of the throne room when Lu Bu killed the Prime Minister.
While Lu Bu was able to escape the city after Li Jue and Guo Si retaliated, Shen Ha's father was not so lucky, and he died sword in hand vainly defending the emperor the day Shen Ha was born.
Shen Ha's mother was with infant child when her husband was slane, and she managed to escape the chaos by fleeing with Lu Bu's small army to Yuan Shao, and she followed his journey to the many feudal warlord that turned him down until he finally settled with Liu Bei in Xuzhou.
When Shen Ha was four, he remembered his mother crying. Zhang Fei, brother to Liu Bei, had become drunk and assaulted her and beat the men who cautioned him against his foolish actions, and Shen Ha's mother was preparing to leave the city in fear of Zhang Fei's wrath when word reached them that he fled the city, and Lu Bu had taken over.
Only a few years later, the city found a new host in Cao Cao, whose power was rising to unparalleled condition, and Lu Bu was killed. The only man spared that they had followed was Zhang Liao, and when Shen Ha turned of age, he set his spear aside Wenyuan's when they rode to battle.
He was too young to fight, but he was at Guandu, though on the other side of the yellow river. He could see the flames rising when Wuchao burned. His first true battle was at Tong Gate against Ma Chao. He defended the van as they retreated after Ma Chao won the first day, and he would have rode out the second day to answer his parley if Cao Cao had not declined him (and likely saved his life). When Cao Cao cut his beard and threw aside his regal robes for peasant soldier attire to hide from Ma Chao, Shen Ha rode beside him, offering a spear in defense.
He rode with Zhang Liao at Xiaoyao Ford, and engaged Ling Tong when he rode out to defend Sun Quan. He lost count of how many men he killed at the ford, but it was somewhere around a hundred fifty. From what he saw of Zhang Liao and Li Dian, he felt like he did nothing on the battlefield at all.
When Sun Shang Xiang came to Shouchun as an envoy, Shen Ha joined her envoy as they rode to Xuchang to hold council with Cao Cao. He rode with Zhang Liao a horse away, and often sat with him in council as a guard, and while Sun Shang Xiang was in Xuchang, Zhang Liao used Shen Ha as her personal guard. He trusted Shen Ha much more than the Wu soldiers she had at her service, and they could be easily slain by order from Cao Cao, but Zhang Liao knew Mengde would never do the same to Shen Ha, a man who offered his life in service to him, and nearly gave it to Ma Chao in his defense.
After aiding Zhang Liao against the Wu invasion at Xiaoyao ford, Shen Ha was often seen beside Zhang Liao as an adviser and guardian, and it was often speculated that Zhang Liao was grooming the young general for command. He had led regiments of Zhang Liao's army to battle, but Wenyuan saw greatness in Shen Ha and aimed to see it realized.
Shen Ha was the head of the guard when Zhang Liao escorted Sun Shang Xiang to Xuchang to hold audience with Cao Cao. Despite the meeting going awry, Zhang Liao kept Shen Ha in Xuchang and had him swear a vow to keep her safe. Beyond that, he went behind Cao Cao's back to order Shen Ha to free her from the Prime Minister's grasp.
When Zhang Liao was captured, it began a chaotic battle of wits over the prisoners. Wu had Zhang Liao, the mighty Grand General of Wei, and Wei had Sun Shang Xiang, the Wu princess and sister to Sun Quan. Shen Ha had the princess write to her brother, urging and even warning him not to harm Zhang Liao as he planned the careful release of both prisoners.
In war, however, plans often come apart, and good men die. Word followed soon after the letter was sent that Zhang Liao was executed by Sun Quan. Shen Ha saw Zhang Liao as a mentor and a father, and in his heart he sought vengeance, but he also had the dying wishes of his late commander haunting him: He was ordered to free Sun Shang Xiang.
However, when the day came to free Sun Shang Xiang, he rode fast to catch up to her. He also found the notorious Lu Xun in her company, attempting to escape. Betraying his promise to Shen Ha, he stabbed Lu Xun in the heart and thrust his sword down Sun Shang Xiang's spine, in hatred for Wu and in an attempt to avenge his fallen commander.
The crowd watching cheering, believing their enemies to be dead. However, Shen Ha in truth executed two common prisoners, setting up for the whole world to believe Lu Xun and Sun Shang Xiang to be dead. He said, "The path is clear!" as the corpses fed the rain and the crows. To his army, he meant it was now time to ride south. To the cloaked and hooded man and woman in attendance to the executions, he meant that nobody would stop them from leaving the city now. For all the kingdom of Wei would know, they were dead.
