Gai's quarters was fairly large. The walls were decorated with a painting of an ancient dragon circling the room to protect it's guests from evil spirits, Gai was never a spiritual person, But he appreciated that the Great Dragon was still looking over him. There was also a lovely painting of a creeping tiger staking a unsuspecting deer. That tiger always reminded him of his departed Lord Sun Jain, sometimes Gai would stare deep in thought at this tiger for hours on end.
His room also held a generosity sized bed equally suited for a grandiose sized man. There was also a grand table with maps of the province scattered across the table. His chair was carved from the finest triadica sebifera trees and ancient Chinese symbols were carved into it.
Gai's armor perched on a standing iron skeleton. When his skeleton was first "dressed" with all his armor it, it terrified the maid who had entered to clean his quarters, she had thought it was an evil spirit come to kill Gai. She ran away, flooded with tears and searched for Gai, when she found him she explained to him what she had seen. Gai busted out with laughter and resolved the petite womans mind.
Any Wu officer can find Gai studying his books in his quarters, if they were to enter they would be welcomed with a warm smile and a firm handshake ready to answer any questions from the Vanguard General.

The hour was late, but the situation was urgent. One of the guards from the main gates ran to Huang Gai's residence to fetch him, worried that Sun Ce would be vulnerable outside the city.
He knocked on the door continuously without pause until the great general appeared.
"Master Huang Gai" he said, gasping for breath before continuing.
"Lord Sun Ce has left the city with only two guards by his side. There was another man that I have never seen before and I think some nefarious deeds are about to take place."
The guard tried to gather himself after being winded from his run. He would surely benefit from Gai's training regiment.

The great general was shocked to the core. Not only has his Lord took an unexpected trip into the wilderness into the twilight. He had only took two guards with him. How could his Lord been so foolish, its suicidal Gai thought to himself, he will be having words with the young Lord after.
"Prepare my steed and have two cavalrymen ready swiftly in the courtyard!"
The guard bowed quickly and ran towards the courtyard.
Huang Gai accelerated towards his armor in his quarters and Blistered into it, he picked up his dagger-axe spear and feared the worst. He Immediacy moved towards the courtyard.
