As if spring had flourished through, the heart flutter and the joyful nature of the Lady Huang resonated within the teahouse. It seemed that this simple establishment had placed the worries out of mind and allowed her to feel not as the foreigner, but simply as a welcomed local that had never left or arrived. No matter what teahouse it was, the young woman seemed to enjoy herself most when in such an establishment than even in that of her own abode..simply for the friendly atmosphere and the joyous smiles that were upon the serving staff; not to mention the kindness of the patrons who could always recognise the nervous nature of an outsider. Looking around it was not of the busiest times and something that could be quite enjoyable, as the noise was bearable..even though, the common clientelle to the Smiling Mountain Inn, where not ones to become loud when intoxicated and cause trouble.
In the corner was an aged woman, with a pointed had and tough material robes she happily worked away the hours..gradual glances up from rolling out the pastry for their special delicacies, dumplings. Though her sight was fading, the mind was still sharp and her own work did not dwindle, fortunately for her the cooking was left to much younger workers. Of course, this delicate looking woman was the owner and content on welcoming those who entered with a sincere heart..as if close relatives that had not been seen for some time. "Sister Yunlu, you shall meet not kinder woman than this; let me introduce you." Swiftly the Lady Huang took the arm of the warrioress, not in an intimidating manner but one of two girls whose bond allows such foolishness. Moving to the small table, the aged woman halted the work she appointed herself and slowly, but gradually, rose from the cusioned mat. It indeed was a genuine smile that met the two, as if she had seen them before..of course she knew of Lady Huang, but treating both as her own daughters they were welcomed... "Her name is Mother Guan..."~Guan Zaoyun~ "My dears, it seems you have brought a friend with you Lady Huang.. Indeed the Heavens shine upon my establishment to be graced by such flowers." The voice was cracked with age, yet it did not lack in warmth and genuine enjoyment to see the two before her. Lady Huang could not help to giggle at the compliment, whether it was to humour the elder or perhaps enjoying such kindness from a friendly face.. "Mother Guan, your words are too kind. This is my dear friend, Ma Yunlu, a talented woman who hails from the Far North." The news seemed to stagger the Mother Guan somewhat, to have a being so far North in this lonely teahouse and in all honesty, it had been some time since the old woman had ever happened to come across someone from so far away.. "Oh my! Such blessings today, out of all Xinye has to offer you come to my lowly teahouse. Lady Ma, if you wish the memories of home do not hesitate to ask; I can easily get one of my employ to start an express carriage of the delicacies which you miss." As the old woman went to bow, the Lady Huang made haste to lean towards Yunlu's ear and whipser..so gently that the straining ears of the Mother Guan would not be able to pick up. "I found out her real name is Guan Zaoyun, but since old age all refer to her as Mother Guan."Rising the old woman became tired and returned to the cushioned mat beside the working table, though growing weak it did not diminish the fire that seemed quite strong within her. "As a gift, venture to a comfortable place and all you wish shall be yours; I shall not have any currency parted on this visit." A small gesture was made for them to depart and take their fill of the evening, not wishing to hear any disagreements with the decision that this evening would be not of their expence... "It is people like her that make my heart feel more at home in Xinye.. I only hope that this delightful teahouse will remain in her family.."Indeed the balcony was the grandure of the establishment, viewing over the city and being able to have such celestial scenes for the eye to take in. Seating herself onto a cushioned mat, the Lady Huang looked over to her new friend and thought of the words spoken previously. "I would love to see your homeland Sister Yunlu. I have become most interested in the different terrains our realm possesses, also, to experience if the air is different from that of the South..to understand brethren who are of the same design, but differ so much.." Drifting in the images of the imagination, from behind the serving girls came and shrilled with happiness at the luxuries they were carrying. Four in total came to the fore each carrying a tray of varrying delights; the first, two jugs that were marked by colour..these were two different teas that were harvest in the surrounding regions. The second, two other jugs that were co-ordinated by colour also, but these were liquids of wines that were becoming popular within the South. The third carried a tray of freshly cooked meat dumplings, a known speciality of the Smiling Mountain Inn and would be the most delightful of snacks. Finally, the fourth serving girl had the dumples containing vegetables as these were made with very different herbs than those of the meat. "We hope that your stay is most satisfactory, such are from this region and we wish for you to take your fill; please..." Brushed away, the Lady Huang moved before the serving girls could pour the liquids. Elegantly the young woman took the first jug of hot tea, it was a sweet brew that she herself knew quite well and seemed to enjoy. As if younger sister to the elder, the Lady Huang served Yunlu before herself and even knelt before the warrioress offering the small cup of tea. "I am glad we came upon each other this day Sister Yunlu, I could only imagine how lonely such life would have been without a being as you to meet; perhaps my being will be able to finally view Xinye as a home." When the cup was taken into hand, the young woman picked up a small bowl and placed one of the meat buns into it, followed by one of the vegetable buns. Lady Huang was imitating the actions shared by her mother and her aunt, the two beloved sisters that would serve each other through a deep friendship that only they could understand...it seemed some time that she wished for such an occassion, for being the only daughter was tiresome; never to experience the sisterly bond others did..but maybe now, that it could change and such desired bond could be created...

Ma Yunlu always found that a teahouse was the best remedy for a heavy heart and a clouded mind. In instances where she thought too much about matters that allowed her to temporarily spiral down into depression; Ma Yunlu indulged in the fine teas of her people. However, since coming here, she never had the opportunity to taste the teas of the south and to hear they were much sweeter made her more eager to try it.
Upon introduction, Ma Yunlu bowed respectfully to the old lady. Her lips were in a smile for this woman had reminded her of her own late grandmother.
"It is an honor to meet you Mother Guan. I think that it is time I allow myself to try the teas of the south now."
Her lips were set in a gentle smile, the womans voice held such strength despite her age and Ma Yunlu respected that greatly. Listening to the whispers of Yueying, she nodded her head in understanding, it would be easier anyways to refer to the woman as Mother Guan.
Upon arrival to their seats, Yueying's expression on visiting Yunlu's home made her smile brighten. Clasping her hands together she watched Yueying, never had Ma Yunlu expected to make a friend like Yueying so fast.
"The desert sand stretches far beyond even the horizon. And when the sand and sky meet, it is the most beautiful thing ever. Almost like the earth beneath and the sky above are melting into one. And when the sun is just about to set, it illuminates the sand into the most beautiful fiery red you could possibly imagine."
Ma Yunlu's voice was barely above a whisper. Her eyes focused on something, but it was nothing in the setting they were in. Her lips were in the slightest of smile and it was obvious her mind was far north in the deserts of Wu Wei.
"I do pray that one day sister Yueying, we shall both travel there and it will be me who shows you the teahouses and the small beauties of the north."
She hoped it would one day happen and when it does, perhaps Han would no longer be divided, but united under one banner and hopefully segregation of her mothers people would cease to exist.
As Yueying served her, she tilted her head down in respect to the young woman and graciously took the cup from Yueying. Waiting for her to be finished. Upon Yueying finishing up pouring the teas and placing the buns down.
"I pray that even through the harshest times, we can always make time to bond over a cup of tea."
And with that, she brought the cup to her lips, tasting the sweet tea. It was very different from what she was used it, she shut her eyes, savoring the taste. Of course she loved the tea of the north, it was what she was used to, but the tea of the south was still just as good, but in its own way.

The young woman listened intently as the description of the warrioress' homeland was placed infront of her, the eyes wondered and the silence dropped as the imagination took flight. Glistening sands and celestial meeting of the Sun and land seemed so far from here, but something achievable to view and this was a thing that Lady Huang simply had to see before the spirit left her lips. In a near trance she became, the eyes set on the distance as if placed within this mystical sounding terrain..to be surrounded by pure desert, so different from the sounds of oceans..to finally hear nothing, a mere of the wind instead of boats traversing the sometimes harsh ever-changing currents. "Sister Yunlu, such sounds heavenly, our realm indeed has treasures to be seen. I only hope that all this violence shall one day halt so, perhaps, we can sit as we are now and watch this fabled dance of the Sun and Sand.."
It was a mystery how the Heavens had placed these two people in the same vacinity, both of similar mind and perhaps an even similar situation. Could the Lady Huang finally find some form of peace whilst settling in Xinye?.. Indeed there could be some hope here, unlike the dreary world back in her family estate in Xiangyang. She knew that many mothers could happily sit by watching the world change without her, taking simplicity as the treaure; but, Lady Huang knew this could not be for her, she needed to do something more then sit and kowtow. "You must have faith in the path we have chosen, with a new dynasty a new era shall be born; if our Lord prevails..we can have some influence, though distant it maybe now...." Kneeling, watching Yunlu take a sip of the tea, allowing a smile to appear upon her lips as the new taste of the South was being taken in, the Lady Huang had all seriousness about her. "...I shall attempt, with all the strength this feeble body carries, to see the safety of not only your family..but also those of the Qiang. With this, we could push for discrimination against to be diminished or even eradicated; for, through you, they will help form the foundations of the Han peoples' Empire."
It was a, perhaps early, farfetched pledge but something that Lady Huang's heart could grasp quite easily and already the ideas began to circulate. Perhaps this way, the political reform they could influence would be resounding and change history..not only for the Qiang, but the other known ethnicities that roam their beloved land; Wuhuan, Xianbei, Xiongnu, Yue, Wu, Shanyue, Nanman, Miao, Zhuang, Wuhan...etc.. All would bow under a properly unified Middle Kingdom and Empire, to stand out from the delusion past dynasties that would openly show discrimination for those not of Han blood. "Indeed, we shall sister Yunlu.." Taking the cup into hand, the Lady Huang's eyes lingered onto the horizon infront of them, the balcony leaving words to be easily spoken as the atmosphere allowed those to relax. "I had never felt loneliness like I had in Xiangyang, with my husband's increasing absence all my time was taken up with my little Zhan; indeed I adored it..but.. I needed someone to converse with, yes the maids who helped me could but their knowledge of most things is less than satisfying.." It was true, the young woman had felt so lonely as of late and now Yunlu could be there, as a kind of confidant or maybe sister she had never had..a new extended family that would, hopefully, not be driven by something within the shadows to be in your company...waiting for some form of information they needed, for them to then to simply ignore you the next...
Taking a sip, the Lady Huang turned back to face Yunlu, a distant smile upon her expression..as if it had been waiting for such a friend to be found, to have a simple conversation as this. "You speak of having to refuse hands of men, yet..what are the specifications for the soul to be accepted?" It was perhaps placed in a flowered riddle, but the coy smile that followed was unmistable to read..it was a mere mundane nonchalant topic of a much youthful nature.. Furthermore, a small move to take the mind away from the worries of their reality and though a topic socially deemed unsuitable for women; it would always be the subject of attention when the male presence had vanished.

With the growing silence, Ma Yunlu envisioned her homeland with no more bloodshed and with no more discrimination. She imagined a time where she could watch the sunset from somewhere other than their home. Where she could sleep under the stars out in the desert without a worry of anyone attacking her.
"I do wish that day comes soon."
Maybe even then she could have her own family. Watch as her own children played out in the sand without a worry in the world. A loving husband who would sit by her side laughing at the mischief children cooked up.
"Maybe one day, I'll have a life I've always wanted, and you sister Yueying shall be there and have the life you've always envisioned."
Ma Yunlu placed a delicate hand on Yueyings arm then retracted to continue her tea and explore the sweet buns that were nothing like the ones she was used to.
"I have faith in our lord, and I have faith in our lords chosen men. As long as I have my brother by my side and your support, I think that we can make a change even now without much power."
It would be a minuscule change, but a change nonetheless. Ma Yunlu thought of the brave men that fought under her lord. All men who's names she had heard of even before she had left the north. Sometimes, she couldn't believe that she was fighting alongside names which stuck in all corners of Han.
"And I believe you will do it. But first, I must deal with the tyrannical path my father seems to be making his way to."
She hadn't meant to say it, but her voice had grown so low that only Yueying would hear and it was obvious she had said it mostly for herself. Yueying's life seemed so simple before, many women would be proud. But Yunlu knew that sitting back and watching as things unfolded paled in comparison to being the one who made a change. Yes, she had only fought for her father, but being in battle satisfied her appetite to do something.
Yueying's question made Ma Yunlu blush. Never had she been asked such a question, especially in the way Yueying had worded it. Her lips turned up into a smile and the previous conversation had returned to the back of her mind.
"Men came flocking our house. Most were rich men who wore only the best robes and indulged in the best of wines."
Most women jumped to such men, but Ma Yunlu shook her head, it was not like her to go for such pigs.
"Bodyguards flanking their sides. If even the lowest bandit broke into their houses, they would have all their guards attack and have the bandit killed."
She paused, eyes focused elsewhere, as if she was seeing these men just in front of her. She shook her head, a look of slight disgust on her face.
"And yet, if you take all their wealth and bodyguards away they are nothing more than lowly men who only look for wives that they can place on a pedestal and show off to the rest of the world. I am nothing more than a pretty face."
Ma Yunlu was considered an exceptional beauty, not only in her home of Wu Wei, but even to neighboring lands and the men who inhabited those areas. When she was much younger, she had been well guarded and hidden, some not even aware of Ma Teng's eldest and only daughter.
"I wish for a man who is strong and wise. Someone who I could intellectually stimulate me in a conversation and yet have the simplest conversations which takes my mind off the strife in our realm. One who would much rather fight for his family than send another to do so."
Her eyes had glossed over and she was in her own little world. After a minute of silence, she realized what she had said and her cheeks had turned a fiery red color. She looked away, if only such a man had existed....

There was something odd about how Yunlu spoke of a matter to with her father, how could anyone place a word used for Dong Zhuo with their own father? Had the Wuwei Lord began to start biting pieces of the realm that were far too big for his reality?.. Turning to sip her tea, the Lady Huang leaned in as the tones of voice was perhaps not one for others' ears. "Tyrannical path? Many have known your father to be a just General, do you mean to suggest his eyes are becoming somewhat too wide for the stomach?" It had to be hard if true, to watch the father move in circles that you'd rather not see him take. But, what of women?..the old laws state a woman had to stand by their man, whether father, husband or brother, no word could be spoken against their actions; 'the good woman'.. On the other hand, the infamous female Scholar Ban had placed the ideals forward and developed them for her fellow women. That, if a woman could see the ill consequences and the path was most unrighteous, then it was her duty to come from the shadows and guide their loved one to the correct route...this was 'the good woman' to divert from the evil back into the good, for benefit of the family and the man in question.
"Women such as us shall always be vulnerable to men such as that, believing that all women will kowtow if they shine the glimmer of luxury in our direction." A faint smile approached with a mixture of giggle and sigh, remembering the many suitors that would hover around her father's estate. Looking to them the Lady Huang could tell that they would not treat her correctly, neither would her mind be appreciated...though the current situation she found, her intelligence was acknowledged and that was as far as it went. Taking one of the sweet buns, the taste was very good and a mixture of flavour she was quite new to herself..her husband seemed to favour the way the North made their buns, more of a bitter and meat filled taste rather than the delicate sweetness of the South.. "I know I am lucky, that every day I should kowtow to the heavens for a man such as Zhuge Liang..but, his absence lingers and I can sense that little Zhan misses him. How could a mother ever explain the reasons why the father was not there?" A sigh escaped her lips, clearly the love Lady Huang had for Kongming was far deeper than even she could have known..that the resentment was fresh and could never over-ride the fact, that in all this realm, she could no longer live without him.. "An intelligent man who has the courage to sacrifice himself for the people's safety?"
Placing the rest of the bun into the small bowl infront of her, the Lady Huang could not help but smile..an eyebrow raised she turned to face the warrioress. "I have heard of a man that you discribed..perhaps not too far from your embrace. I am yet to meet his acquaintance, but if his reputation is anything to go by.." Leaning closer, the young woman toned turned coy and the whisper of a voice was only for Yunlu to hear. "There is a warrior, by the name of Zhao Yun..a name I am sure you too have heard. His honour is unmatched, with it his martial abilities and quick mind for any given situation. Perhaps, dear sister, that the peace you wish for could be found within his heart?" Taking back the seat, Lady Huang looked out from the balcony and smiled a bit..it would be an union of celestial proportions if a woman such as Yunlu and the Commander Zhao would embrace.. Just as the minds of Lady Huang and that of Zhuge came together.. "Indeed it is early, but I must pray that you observe this man, it could not help to have the options of the future known to you." Taking a sip from her tea, she could tell by a small glance that perhaps this conversation was also knew the Yunlu. It was enjoyable and the Lady Huang felt that her heart could open to her, she knew perhaps that information was safe....

Ma Yunlu nodded her head slowly. As much as she didn't wish to admit it, it was true her father was straying the path of righteousnesses and justice. No longer was the man practicing what he preached and by moving here, Ma Yunlu hoped her father would do what was right.
"I only left home so I can be here for my brother. I know father knows this, but it still pains me to know I have left my fathers side. But... Chao needs me more than ever."
Ma Chao was the most important person to Yunlu. He was the younger brother whom she would never abandon. After the countless hours of training and enduring battles with him... she would not forgive herself if her brother were to be lost to the rage within him... she needed to be by his side.
Ma Yunlu raised a brow at the mention there was someone close by whom she described. Ma Yunlu didn't know everyone that well, and while she knew of their military standings and accomplishment, their personalities she was not acquainted with. Alas, as Yueying spoke the name, Ma Yunlu's eyes widened and her red stained cheeks flushed a deeper shade. Her voice was very low now, only for Yueying to hear.
"I do not doubt your judgment, but he is someone I fight battles with. It could potentially be a dangerous call to even consider such an idea."
It had completely caught her off guard and she could not properly respond. Musing the idea secretly, she could only imagine the reaction her brother would have to such an idea.
"But if you insist on me observing, then perhaps I will make well of your suggestion."
Ma Yunlu could not retain the tiny laugh that escaped her lips. Yueying was not as old as she was, but she was very observant and wasn't one to shy away from making suggestions... as embarrassing as they may be, Ma Yunlu's fondness only grew.
"If it is written in the stars dear sister, then it shall be."
Ma Yunlu had already began believing that it was her destiny to live the life of a warrior. Battling, furthering her lords cause and helping to unite their realm. Marriage and a family... it was seemingly not for her. Still, she was still fairly young, not as young as Yueying and most girls who were married.
"Besides, what man wants a woman whose body is marred by war?"
While Ma Yunlu wasn't necessarily 'marred', her father not allowing her to fight on the front-lines often, there were still the tiny places of skin where the skin was slightly lighter by where blades just barely hit. Still, she retained the idea figure, modesty and a well structured face... it was just unfortunate it attracted all the pigs rather than real men.

It was clear to Lady Huang that this issue was, and would possibly remain, an open wound that had not yet been given time to heal. No one can be sure whether the Valiant General of the North was taking the correct route, or that he'd continue the same path or change..the future may not be certain, but no doubt the young woman only hoped that he would do the right thing. The family had become fragmented and Lady Huang prayed within that the Lord Ma would place the medicine, to heal what he had done and bring the household back as one. Hearing of the youthful brother, Lady Huang wished to meet him one day and to observe the reputation he had as a fledgling power house..though needing aid, it was certain his potential was still a in its raw state and need nurture to blossom.
Smiling there was deterrent, perhaps even doubt but nonetheless a glimmer of hope for Yunlu to find a certain peace within the Warrior. It was a future that no one would be able to foretell, but one that could lead to intrigue. The Lady Huang listened to the warriores and sipped the warm tea to think of what was spoken..seemingly there was self-doubt present at her own worth, indeed saddening but always present in a youthful woman whose life was not stable. "I view it as a romantic venture, to have a love blossom upon the battlefield; protecting each other in sacrificing for the security of their realm." A sigh left her lips as she imagined such a situation occuring around her, unlike her own the Lady Huang was sure it was a mere myth that this could happen..but there was hope for Yunlu, especially with the likes of Zhao Yun.. "Through mutual respect something glimmers, a look to a touch..then, upon the eve of battle the words the heart died to hear are spoken.. In the light comes the embrace that elovates the body to a height one could never imagine...." She trailed and allowed the eyes to glaze over, trapped in the dream of her own making remembering how she felt when she first met Zhuge..it was so idyllic that it seemed unreal, but the young woman knew it happened as the feelings of that time were very much alive...
"You are not yet marred sister Yunlu; a rose with the most beautiful petals, that leaves hide the most dangerous of thorns... The makings of a formidable Matriarch.." Looking to the floor, there were aspects in the description that Lady Huang wished to obtain.. "You see, some men wish for protection aswell. They rise to protect you, but ultimately it is the non-physical matters they need security with; which someone such as you can provide.." Taking a sip, the eyes moved out towards the distance.. "..though a finely craft Jade will bring the most unsavory of men to try and take it..their will always be one, the delicate touch not wishing to cause damage; an embrace that you will one day not be able to live without.." Rising from the seat, the figure of Lady Huang moved towards the balcony edge and took hold of the wooden frame that stopped the body from falling.. "..But infront of you now, stands no rose..but a mere peony.. You see, your mind complements your physical prowess... I am one who has only obtained the strength of mind, not being blessed to protect neither my husband or son through any form of combat.." It did frustrate the young woman that around her many women were taking arms and showing their individual strength, to surpass that of even the most hardiest of men..but her, it was lacking and had no signs of improvement..indeed the Lady Huang could protect herself with a sword, but not to the standards of someone such as Yunlu...

It was always hard to think about her father, and no matter how many times she tried not to; visions of her brothers state kept prodding her mind. Ma Yunlu was grateful that Yueying didn't comment and continued onto the previous topic. Yes, it was a subject that made her fidget, but it was a much better trade-off then having to speak about her father and the atrocities he had committed.
Returning her mind to the topic at hand, Ma Yunlu's cheeks were no longer as bright as before, but there was a seemingly permanent light pink stain across her cheeks. She wasn't sure how to respond to being compared to a rose, it was definitely flattering, but because of all that was running through her mind she feared if she spoke her voice would crack.
"It is a romantic thought, yes I agree with you, but the probability of such a thing happening is close to nothing."
Ma Yunlu paused, it was a idea that she could muse, but that was it to her. Ma Yunlu fought the idea that she could ever be a wife. Of course, she knew how she should act towards a husband. She knew what her duties were and as much as she was willing to accept them... she just felt like the stars had something else written for her. Yes, she was stubborn and was not one to accept such ideas easily.
"He is a handsome man, an intelligent general and a strong soldier. However, whoever is meant for him shall be a lucky woman... and luck has never been on my side."
Not with how things were unfolding right now. Ma Yunlu never gave herself credit for anything. If anything, she felt like she would be ill suited as a wife. She'd be too busy indulging in warfare and constantly worried with the issues back in Wu Wei.
Ma Yunlu watched as Yueying walked out to the balcony. She was slowly trying to absorb each and every word spoken by her sister, but each time she said something Ma Yunlu mentally countered it always finding a problem within herself.
"And your son is blessed to have a mother as intelligent as yourself. My strength comes from my blade, your strength comes from your mind and it is just as valuable. I believe it is through sheer wisdom and intelligence can even the most nimble woman stop the post powerful of soldier."
Ma Yunlu was definitely not as intelligent as Yueying, she could already see this, but she had always been the only sibling who preferred using her mind than her blade. Sometimes, preferring to heal the wounded soldiers than fight and kill.

The Lady Huang listened to Yunlu's words and could not help but smile, when complement was placed to her door time was not waste to brush it aside..denial of such traits were met, but to others the warrioress seemed confident, especially in giving flattery to others. Slowly turning, she looked to Yunlu and titling her head gently leaned on the wooden frame of the balcony. "You are quite the marvel sister Yunlu.. Why is it that you do not heed your own words that you place to someone else?" Surely it must have been hard being the only daughter, surrounded by men would place no ease to the life of a young girl; especially when placed against a gender that was deemed superior. Delicately Lady Huang moved back to the small cushion beside Yunlu, the eyes not leaving figure before her..still wondering how the self-confidence could not blossom, could she not see the Yunlu others saw?.. "From your eyes you seem to see superiors, but when the subject of yourself is placed in question..doubt seems to appear."
Taking a sip of the tea, the eyes trailed to the balcony again and the horizon shone from a distance they could not tell..the eyes of Zhuge visible and burning flames of the sun symbolised the rage that was present. His absence was indeed furiating and something so unfathomable, yet, it made the heart desire more of him; to finally be reunited after so many years without him. No doubt the little Zhan too would feel the warmth of finally having the father's embrace for so long. "It is not my son to be blessed for a mother like myself, but the other way round. Every embrace is like a small piece of Heaven had fallen into my possession...no longer would I feel whole without my little Zhan." It was admirable, that even so young the love of a mother was so strong. Lady Huang would do anything for Zhan and even sacrifice her own happiness, just as long his future was safe and his own development was a peaceful one. Allowing a sigh to leave the soft lips, the young woman faintly smiled hearing the chuckle of her son...something that would always fill the heart whenever it became sadenned, knowing the route she was now walking on would be for the benefit of him..to all the sons within their realm..
"I have never met anyone as you sister Yunlu, I know that futures can change without us being able to have true control...but, yours... It is more clear than any I have met, to hold a key within their heart, a strength that can be utilised in the most powerful way..." There was potential and the Lady Huang expected the modest manner of the warrioress to retract any kind of compliment..however, the words came from the heart and the observations had been thorough. Taking a sip, with a swift nibble of the bun that was in her bowl, the young woman gazed upon Yunlu. "I fear that I could never protect our loved ones as much as you can..hopefully the mind, as you said, could overwhelm any soldier wielding the most sharpest of blades." Taking another bite, the young woman looked to her sister, a warrioress who seemed to have the manner of a modest woman...she was more of wife material that she could ever imagine, the delicate nature that had the solid manner within that could shine and disappear at will. "You are more of worth than you can see sister Yunlu, it saddens me that you do not view the marvel I view before me." There was a glazed look within Lady Huang's eyes, the heart was given permission to speak and the feelings of a young sister shone..indeed concern for the modest nature to overpower and then lead to the situation that she too found herself, was too hard to ignore....

Ma Yunlu's view of herself was not a self-esteem issue. It was just how she was, she was realistic to the extent that she was blinded. Raised with males, she never saw herself as a beautiful woman, but a woman striving to make a name in a male dominant 'profession'.
"I am nothing more than a woman trying to be more than a pretty face sister Yueying. There is no marvel in that, you on the other hand are a woman with an axe that can cut down even the strongest of trees."
She was referring to Yueyings intelligence, Ma Yunlu was not the strongest warrior and not the most intelligent one either. She was a steady medium for it all, but Yueying's intelligence was to the extremes.
"I have doubts because I know I am human and through that I am imperfect."
And she was alright with that. Taking another sip of her tea, she watched Yueying speak of the blessing having a child. Ma Yunlu watched in awe, the look in Yueyings eyes showed the eternal love of a mother to her child....
Averting her gaze for a moment, she wondered what it would be like to have a child. To carry something alive within you for months and to watch them blossom into powerful young men and women.
"One day, I wish to be as fortunate as you are and indulge in the many joys of a beautiful child."
Ma Yunlu wanted to meet this little child. For her friend to be happy and finally be at ease with her child in her arms. If Ma Yunlu could do that in that instance for her friend... she would.
"The mind is the most powerful tool a person has, you need nothing more to protect your loved ones."
Ma Yunlu knew, that sometimes it was through sheer mental strength a person could take down armies of men, not just a single person.
The compliments only made her look down and smile, she had been complimented by so many men, only so they could have her as a trophy wife, but never has she received a compliment from someone like Yueying. It was a blessing and an honor and she bowed her head down to her friend.
"If you see a marvel before you, then I see the greatest treasure this word can offer before me."

A faint smile appeared upon the Lady Huang's expression as the cheeks rushed with a pink colour, that matched the peach blossoms of the Spring time. To be observed as a treasure that this world would need was far from the reach she felt she could grab at, perhaps a feat that she would be able to gain through Yunlu's friendship. Taking a sip of tea, the throat was lubricated and the eyes freshened from the gentle breeze that this magical place obtained. "If I am a treasure, then it is through the beings that aid me, such beings as yourself give the heart strength to withstand anything. Knowing there are many women in our position who strive for more than what they have..it is something my mind will always refuse to forget; thus, I use all my ability to make sure it will one day be easier for female recognition." It was something so far away, too far in the distance to simply reach out at take into grip..but it was a dream nonetheless and a factor the Lady Huang would willingly sacrifice her life for. To propell the status of women into an equal position of their male counterparts, to be recognised as beings of worth beyond that of mere appearances.
"In time, the child shall appear... As many other things, timing must be right and I see that now could not be the best time for such thought; as you said before.. Your brother Chao needs you the most right now." In a sense Yunlu had already a child, in the form of her younger brother whose naivety and youthful recklessness needed to have guidance..just as a child needed nurture to be put on the correct path to progression further into adulthood. Another sip and another thought, there was a lot of mention of children in the conversation and it seemed that Lady Huang herself was bringing such a matter up.. Could it be that without little Zhan the heart unconciouslessly speaks of what is missing? Perhaps this was where the resentment for Zhuge grew, the veil over the fact that she missed him deeper than she could imagine. "Sister Yunlu, I know that this dayis our first meet, but I can sense that you are one to trust with my life...and heart. Therefore..." Another sip, to allow the throat to be wet, it was a close thing to ask of anyone and something that she hoped would not add to the already heavy burdens upon Yunlu's shoulders. "I wish for you to become the guardian of my son, if anything happens to my person; there is no one I believe worthy enough to protect him..other than you." Turning to face the warrioress, the eyes spoke more than the request and truth was found within Lady Huang's heart. "I see the burdens you already carry, if such is too forward please forgive me."
This sisterhood bond was new to Lady Huang and something she could not let go of, now she had found an equal that could bring untold possibilities. Having her as a guardian of Zhan, the heart could be at some rest for the unknown absence of Zhuge brought no answer to her worries; but with Yunlu, there would be another answer to replace it.. Under her own guidance, little Zhan would have a prosperous future ahead of him. "Could it be bold of me, Yunlu, to perhaps partake in an oath of sisterhood? Xinye would seem so lonely without a companion as yourself to be my equal and dear confidant." It seemed a most idyllic setting, with the tea warm and the scenary most beautiful on the balcony of a quaint teahouse. One of the South coming together with that of the North, forced into similar circumstances and perhaps similar dreams for their own future...there had been no other that Lady Huang felt more comfortable with, a true friend was rare to come by; especially one that could be trusted with the heart's worries and truths...

[Simply to tie in with the updates and changes in situation]
As the time upon the balcony was becoming quite idyllic, there was something sombre coming from the horizon and an ill-fitting breeze change the disposition of the Lady Huang....a matter was not quite right. Yet, the tea was sipped to try and ignore something so foul but it was hardly easy to simply brush away. With it came a serving girl from behind the curtain that lead into the main part of the teahouse, in hand a scroll that had an official seal of office. Glancing to such a thing, the young woman was not sure what to make of it; this wind had brought her here..that scroll had markings of bad news and one that would not be taken so easily. A rush of worry set on the body, could the absent husband be found to have passed?..or perhaps, the weakening health of her Uncle finally yielded and set his spirit to the Heavens? Oh, the unfortunate Aunt...
No, it was nothing attached to one of the two women upon the balcony. Glancing over the words, it was something she could not put into words and the silence was becoming too obvious. A glaze crossed the eyes and water was appearing at the news upon the scroll; taking away the steamed buns the serving girl made her exit. Another breath... Another sigh and then a glance to the winds of the horizon; so this was the unsavory feeling upon the currents of the sky..
Words could not escape the lips and the Lady Huang moved most delicately towards Yunlu in a most strange fashion, one of a mixture of comfort and sorrow; the scroll had something concerning the warrioress. Kneeling before her friend, the sisterhood was going to take a blow for one of them. Placing the scroll a little way infront of Yunlu's feet the head was placed to the ground in a full bow..but not for Yunlu herself, it was one would perform if placed into mourning and at the shrine of a loved one. "..Dear sister, my heart is with you..." All could be spoken, a mere whisper that she knew Yunlu would hear; something had happened. The news would soon be as a fire within the forest and spread to all corners, but it was to the young woman of the North that would be one of the first to know.
In the ensuing chaos of the land, the skirmishes in the North were apparent and the likelihood of a household suffering a major loss was inevitable. But how could one imagine it happening to the self?....
When opening the scroll, what Yunlu would see was the notification of a death. In the flourished words of a well-educated scribe detailed the battle between the Wuwei forces and the army of Li Jue, with one being the victor..the other not so. If one rushed to the bottom, they would see that Ma Teng had been taken in the turmoil. The father the warrioress wished to stray from his current path, was no longer in the realm of the living; thoughts to the youthful Chao were unbelievable..the Ma family of Wuwei had a fragmentatioon that could not be healed, a valiant General and a father whose honour was quite unmatched... A tear did leave the eye of the Lady Huang, not imagining how it could feel to know that their father had died in a battle so far from where they were..comfort would be needed and she hoped that Yunlu knew that she would try to provide as much strength that was needed....
