Chronicles of Wei Feng Advent [/u] "As a roof, the land requires a support. As a pillar, the Imperial figurehead requires a base. As a base, you are the very foundation from which the building stands. Your breaking spells the breaking of a nation."
------------------------------------------------------- how long had it been?A narrow gleam of majestic sunlight removed Zifeng from the oh so tender cradle of Morpheus. Oh how he despised the sting that came with the unveiling of wakeness. For exactly how long had he been asleep?
Firm, sharp haystack needles mercilessly stabbed at the vulnerable skin of his arms as he heaved his dead weight onto his numbed forearms. He slowly raised his head towards the crack from which the gleam was coming, his neck creaking and screeching as he stubbornly persisted.
Finally, in surrender, Zifeng submitted to seventy-five kilograms of limp, dead weight, collapsing face-first into the prickly hell of a thousand needles, rocked by the bumps and crashes that was expected of a ride on the back of a moving trailer.
Why was this all such a gruelling process?
The wounded warrior was alone in the dark. Alone with nothing but his drifting, muddled thoughts. Only the unsheathed hidden blade fastened tightly on his wrist and the ragged, bloostained clothing settled on his back could tell tales of his origin and intentions.
The cycle of the great circle would have to pass a few days more before the transport cart would arrive at the next stop. A few more days for the Imperial Warden to recover from the strife that he had encountered. Until they arrived at the capital, Zifeng would have to remain absolutely stationary, and avoid attracting any attention to the cart in which he concealed himself.
Only a few more days to Si Shui Gate. And a few more after that to the looming de-ja-vu.

Chronicles of Wei Feng Advent [/u] "As a roof, the land requires a support. As a pillar, the Imperial figurehead requires a base. As a base, you are the very foundation from which the building stands. Your breaking spells the breaking of a nation."
------------------------------------------------------- what's going on?Thump. Thump. Crash.
The wagon had stumbled clumsily on rocks beneath. Damaged, it continued its' steady stroll along the cluttered dirt road. Yet the small-scale catastrophe had not stirred the slumber of the reserved warrior. His body had been propelled upwards with the impact. And yet he slept.
One could almost say he was dead.
Dead, however, was the last thing Zifeng could have been. His dreams told a story. No fairytale with a happy ending. No tragedy which speaks of death. At least. Not yet. This was something far beyond a cheesy fable. This was reality.
His dreams told the story of his life. Agony filled the once-sacred halls of the palace of Heaven's Son. The clanging of metal and the cries of the dying backed the foreground of a corpse-littered mess. This was by decree of the great Dong Zhuo. The man responsible for the prosperity of the state, and the safety of the nation.
The Imperial Protector was responsible for this bloody sight.
"Fear not, young lord, they cannot harm you. They would not dare to cross one of Imperial lineage such as yourself."
The young prince Liu Xie followed closely behind the exhausted Wei Zifeng. A swift slash and an attacker lay dead at the Imperial Warden's feet. They together waded through the crimson that flooded the Imperial Palace, the young Prince squinting, obviously greatly disturbed by the gory sight. Body upon body of minister and Imperial guard alike lay sprawled out along the blood tagged walls and red-stained floors. They had to brave on.
The high-pitched shreak of a dragged Jian blade was the only sound heard within the gruesome, lifeless atmosphere. Zifeng and the young Prince hastily pushed on through the haunting corridors, still dressed in their white and gold Imperial robes.
They had been attacked while the young Prince slept, and the palace was at its' most peaceful. Only by the efforts and ultimately lives of those close to the young Prince did he escape the quarters through secret passageways. It was at the exit of the passageway; into the courtroom, that the two had reunited. And from there, it was all hack and slash to survive.
Clanging of iron steel could be heard as they turned left around a corner into the lunar moonlight which illuminated the Imperial Courtyard.
"Pray shield your eyes, young Lord. They do not deserve to witness such violence. I shall not allow these crimes to go unpunished."
On sharp, wooden stakes sat the heads of the significant unfortunates who had fallen to the blade during the massacre. It was truly a gruesome and barbaric sight to behold. The Prince, contrary to his elder's suggestion was glued to the sight. Petrified. Scared. Lost.
Without time to absorb all that had happened, Zifeng glanced right to catch a patrol unit, Dong Zhuo's soldiers. Too many to handle by himself. Swiftly and stealthily, the pair dashed across to a large bush in the courtyard. Just a small stretch before safety. As they lay themselves down to conceal themselves, they were forced into the sight of a corpse lying in a bloody heap on the grass.
Flashbacks played out in Zifeng's head. Times of joy. Times of prosperity. How everything had changed on that one night. How his father had been victimized in the massacre.
He had known that man's face in all of its' livelihood. Now reduced to a corpse on the ground. Ah, how times change.
How long had it been?
Daylight once again penetrated the confines of the small wagon. There was something different. Zifeng surveyed the small space he was in. Familiarity was the perfect description as he decided on moving up to the crack for a better look outside.
Second time lucky.
Pushing himself up onto his backside, the pain seemed to have been reduced since last time. Sleep had done him well. He leaned forward towards the crack, which answered all of his questions.
The sunlight revealed the wagon entering under a tunnel, or a gate of some sort. It all remained a mystery, until familiar markings led to a de-ja-vu of thoughts. Slaves working on the gates against their will said it all.
They had arrived at Si Shui Gate.
The wagon suddenly stopped. A road check. Just on time. Slowly, the cover of the cart gradually moved to the side as the soldiers heaved. More and more daylight illuminated the cart. Adrenaline started to rush. Daylight soon filled the cart, and a quite poor cloth disguise came into view. Without hesitation, the soldiers gave a nod, before raising their blades to stab the shape.
With a powerful motion, the blade penetrated the cloth. No pained cry was heard, nor even a groan.
SHUUUUKKKK.
In a flash, the soldier that had stabbed the cloth fell face-first onto the stone surface, revealing the man himself, the concealed Zifeng, his hidden blade unsheathed and smothered in liquid blood.
Raising his right arm, the Imperial Warden slid his finger across his thumb, making a clicking noise. From within a grand company of wagons both drivers and passengers, and within the carts, behind and ahead sprung several others like Zifeng, armed and engaging in battle.
Battle ensued as Zifeng rushed up onto the walls, cutting down panicking soldiers left and right.
"The oppression of Li and Guo lives short! The Emperor, as his forefathers must reign supreme!"
Reaching the top of the walls to the view of the chaos happening below, the two hoisted flags were in dead sight. He ascended the stone steps, co-ordinating sword and hidden blade in a glorious flourish.
In a few moments of panic, the flags of Li and Guo had been lit, flames rising to the heavens above. It was truly a glorious sight to behold.
Sprinting over to the other side of the gate, Zifeng parried and dodged blows as he ran, countering blows in order. Slaying two men in a flamboyant blade twirl, Zifeng rode his momentum, making a slide on his knees to avoid several potentially lethal blows, before arriving at the opposite gate. With one quick slice to the neck with his hidden blade, the gatekeeper lay dead.
Crunch, crunch.
The closed gates soon were raised a quarter of the way as a party of Zifeng's allies removed themselves from the skirmish and made their exit, some oppressed slaves now riding in the wagons. From this high point, Zifeng caught a glimpse of an army arriving from the point they had entered.
They wouldn't be happy.
His business here complete, adrenaline took complete faith in the steed that had emerged from the chaos out into the exit. A group of soldiers now closing in on him, Zifeng didn't think twice.
The leap of faith.
With an entire natural somersault in mid-air, Zifeng landed the motion perfectly, as the horse whinnied in a mixture of pain and excitement. The soldiers above could only look in amazement, as the band of vigilantes rode out into the horizon, carrying along those unfortunate enough to end up in slavery.
A few hours of riding, and the company would finally be at their destination.
Zifeng could only smile at what he had just done. They came in wagons, and they left Si Shui gate in flames. This would be a day to remember. A companion soon rode up to Zifeng's side with news.
"Our sources in the city say that Cao Cao attacks the city of Luo'yang. Guo and Li have mobilized. It is also said that the man in question, Cao Mengde has claimed loyalty and fidelity to the Emperor. There are rumors that the Emperor has already begun to flee to his side."
An inquisitive look on his face, Zifeng looked up to the sky, stroking his chin. He begun to contemplate the possibilities of this.
"If the troops of both Li and Guo are out of the city, we could make some noise. I shall have to re-unite with the Emperor, however, and to do that, I must accept this man of Xian's favor. If my Lord flees to him so readily, he must be powerful. Just what sort of man is this Cao Cao?
"We shall have to see for ourselves, Zifeng."
"Then let us push on to Luo'yang. From there we shall decide on the future. [/font][/blockquote] hello again, luo yang. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Characters Involved: Wei Feng, anyone who wants to join in.

Ai Rui looked out past the gates of Luo Yang to see the armies preparing for battle. Can you truly save the land Cao Cao? One could only wonder what drives you to this battle, loyalty or ambition? Ai Rui had no desire to serve either side, and only care who raised his flag for the sake of the people. The oppression of the fools Li Jue and Guo Si had lasted far too long, and Ai Rui was nearly ready to raise a blade to see it end.
I must find comrades to aid me in the restoration of the land and the protection of Luo Yang. Ai Rui thought of his family: His father Jin; killed by Dong Zhuo, his older brother Shang; Slain at Tiger Trap, his younger brother Mao; slaughtered by Dong Zhuo's tyranny; Ai Rui was done with oppression. I will fight should Cao Cao fail. I will not allow Luo Yang to suffer any longer.
Ai Rui looked at the pathetic band of followers he'd managed to garner. "You men are brave to stand beside me, for I grow weary of Li and Guo. I will not stand to see Cao Cao defeated here, he is the last hope for Luo Yang. I only ask you to stand beside me should he fail, and I promise to protect you and the people of Luo Yang! This was not Ai Rui's element, and it showed. He felt terribly out of place trying to rally men to fight.
The very concept of war terrified Ai Rui. The fear had been left by the fate of his family. His father had raise Shang and Rui to fight wars, but after learning of his father's fate Rui could hardly lift a blade. Yet here he stood on the edges of Luo Yang ready to ride out to aid a man he knew not at all. What am I thinking even attempting this? This is foolish. Yet, there is something that holds me here. Is this the warrior's heart my father swore to instill within us?
"Ai Rui, Someone approaches the city!" a man called. Ai Rui left his watching spot and headed to the gate. It was Certainly true, a large group of men rode toward the city. Rui tightened his headband and drew his sword. "Best to learn of their intentions here and now." Please be peaceful, I have enough to deal with already.
Ai Rui watched as the horsemen drew ever closer, his grip on his sword tightening. Who were these strange and hurried men.

Chronicles of Wei Feng Advent [/u] "As a roof, the land requires a support. As a pillar, the Imperial figurehead requires a base. As a base, you are the very foundation from which the building stands. Your breaking spells the breaking of a nation."
------------------------------------------------------- the time has come. There was no room for slumber on this trip. Zifeng rode high on the steed that had saved his life earlier on during the skirmish at Si Shui gate. Liberated victims of conscription slept peacefully on the wagons, the steady rise of dawn slowly creeping up over the hill ahead.
This was truly a day blessed by the heavens.
There was much to be done this day. The group would reach the city of Luo'yang as a convoy, and do whatever it would take to gain entrance into the capital. From there, Zifeng, his small band and his sources already blending within the city would regroup and plot their next plan of action. Everything was straightforward and direct to ensure minimum room for error.
The real issue at this point for Zifeng, however was nothing to do with his past, present or future actions. It was something far more significant.
An old friend of Zifeng's from Chang'an who had approached him earlier, one Zhu Jun rode up to his side once again.
"What do you think of this man Cao Cao, brother?"
"He claims fidelity to the Han Dynasty, that is all that matters for me."
He lied.
In reality, Zifeng was truly concerned about the apparent Han savior's character. There were rumors that the man was driven by nothing more than ambition. If such was true, then the Emperor was at great risk.
"I am concerned, brother. I have known this man Cao Cao since he was a boy. He wreaks hidden ambition, and will stop at nothing to grow."
Zifeng simply nodded in agreement and dismissal. By now, the sun had risen into its' morning stage, and the liberated had begun to awaken, thanking heaven for their good fortune. They soon reached the peak of the hill ahead.
The glorious city of Luo'yang came into view.
Cheers were soon heard as the free, alongside the vigilantes that had freed them erupted in joy and happiness. They would see their families once again, after a lifetime of imprisonment and hard labor. A
With Zhu Jun, and two others of his band, Zifeng temporarily left the company just a few li li away from the gate itself. The group of four on horseback soon reached the bottom of the gates, their hands fixed on their weapons, in case battle ensued. Behind, the company of Ronin awaited orders, ready to enter the city, no matter what the cost.
With a look, it seemed that the gate was manned not by troops of the Li kingdom, but instead by those of no allegiance except to the city itself.
Had Li and Guo mobilized even the guards of the city?
Somewhat surprised, Zifeng raised his head up towards the top.
Glancing up at the walls, Zifeng called out, summoning the gatekeeper or whoever would address them, his scarf down, and his mouth revealed.
"We and a band of- migrants seek entrance into the grand capital. Who shall address our plight?" hello again, luo yang. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Characters Involved: Wei Feng, Ai Rui

Ai Rui watched, growing ever more wary as a small portion of the group rode forward toward the gate. His rag-tag band of defenders were clutching their weapons tightly, knowing this party could belond to either Li or Guo. My men are brave, and seem prepared for battle here. They know not what they are in for should these be from those traitorous dogs.
Rui watched intently as four men rode ahead of the group. He prepared a rose to give to their leader, either a sign of friendship or the first flower for his grave.
As the four men approached the gate Rui felt his grip tighten on the hilt of his blade. Sweat began running from his brow and he felt the usual fear of confrontation. His body wanted to drop his blade and retreat to safety, but he stayed himself despite his cowardly feeling.
Ai Rui smirked and chuckled as they called up toward the wall as he stood right before them. He primed the rose in his hand as he stepped forward. "Tell me, do I give this rose as a token of trust and friendship or is this one I give for you to take your grave? Declare your allegiance clearly for all in my band to hear and face the consequences."
Ai Rui extended the rose toward the man who had called to him. He'd hoped he had spoken well enough for the men to feel slightly intimidated, but still sure enough to remain honest with him. He awaited the answer anxiously, blade primed to strike should these men be enemies. "Tell me, do you serve Li Jue or Guo Si?"

Chronicles of Wei Feng Advent [/u] "As a roof, the land requires a support. As a pillar, the Imperial figurehead requires a base. As a base, you are the very foundation from which the building stands. Your breaking spells the breaking of a nation."
------------------------------------------------------- friend or foe? There was a commotion. This entire guard unit was obviously not official let alone Imperial. The leader that emerged only affirmed the fact that it was no city watch. He stood tall, yet it seemed unnatural. The entire situation was iffy, and unpredictable.
The four horsemen of the apocalypse stared menacingly up at the man that had come forth. A sign of fearlessness and intimidation.
They gritted their teeth as the man spoke boldly. Foolishly. It was as if the man at the gates projected a false aura of power. A pretender, perhaps? Or maybe just a coward. A rose? Original, but offensive. The three positioned around Zifeng half-unsheathed their weapons, before he raised his arm gesturing a halt.
A smile seemed to have formed on Zifeng's face as he looked downwards toward the ground, the shadows concealing the rest of his face.
"A rose. Truly you must know of the shadowy times in which we live. A rose, friend, has place not in the shadows, but in broad daylight, where we may admire its' beauty and cautiously avoid its' treacherous thorns. But conceal its' thorns in the shadows, and we become victim. A rose in the shadows; a rose in these dark times is a symbol of falsity."
By now, Zifeng had raised his head upwards once again. A fierce, fiery look in his peaceful, yet furious brown eyes.
"Now pray tell, are you truly an Imperial guard? A protector of the city? Even a warrior? I bid you answer first, for your rose tells many tales. Would you truly deny the entry of harmless men and a group of migrants?"
Hand still not fixed on the blade, Zifeng instead had his hand raised, ready to command his men to either calmly advance into the city peacefully, or charge into another battle. hello again, luo yang. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Characters Involved: Wei Feng, anyone who wants to join in.
Sidenotes: Um, yup, Zifeng just doing his thing, being a bit of a pain, and analyzing Ai Rui's character. What do you expect from an educated man on a mission.

A grin widened across Ai Rui's face. "So, you are a clever an cautious man." Ai Rui looked into the horseman's fiery eyes and felt his fear vanish. The lessons his father had imparted were setting in, he would never fear once the fight had begun. Especially when the fight was fought with their minds and not their blades.
Ai Rui sheathed his blade and withdrew his rose. "Perhaps under the circumstances you consider this rose threatening, you call it a sign of falsity. Perhaps in your hands it would be, but in mine it is nothing more than a gesture of peace. It is a sign of hope, a sign of what I bring to this city. I make it something beautiful to those who know how to handle it and threatening to those who do not. I am nothing more than me, a man who was born in the capital city and who wishes to protect it from all harm!"
Rui drew himself to his full height before he continued his speech. "I am Ai Rui, second son of Ai Jin; the first to stand against Dong Zhuo. I am Ai Rui, the protector of Luo Yang; and I stand her ready to fell the traitor Li Jue and Guo Si! And If you have come to fight us and shelter their wounded, then I shall fell you as well."
Ai Rui calmed himself a bit before continuing on. "You say you are merely harmless men and migrants, but you reek of blood. You have had recent confrontations, how can I be sure what you say is true. You have my name and purpose; now I request yours."
Rui knew what he had done was courageous and possibly even foolish, but he knew it was the quickest way to reach his goal here. He readied his hand on his blade, to be wary of his new acquaintances as he awaited his answer.

Chronicles of Wei Feng Advent [/u] "As a roof, the land requires a support. As a pillar, the Imperial figurehead requires a base. As a base, you are the very foundation from which the building stands. Your breaking spells the breaking of a nation."
------------------------------------------------------- the time has come.By around this time, the sun had completely risen, and the area was lighted at a high level. It revealed a fade of the fire in Zifeng's eyes with every passing word.
Was this a feeling of comfort?
Even the three gathered around him seemed to have mellowed down to an extent, their hands, however still fixed on their weapons. Everything was becoming so unpredictable. Perhaps this new mindset was coming along with this new era.
What used to be impossible was now a regular occurrence in every day life. During these times, it seemed that even pathetic lambs could become lions, and dragons, lizards.
Zifeng kept his gaze fixed on the ground ahead, shrouded by the figure of his dark shadow.
A few seconds passed, before he gave a small chuckle. He raised his head to meet the stares of his three companions, giving a nod, a smirk clear on his face.
His outstretched arm still hovered motionless in the air.
Click.
The hand clenched into a tightened fist, as the hidden blade fastened on his wrist popped outwards. In almost total synchronization, three arrows were fired by his companions at his flanks, as they flew true towards their target.
A few split-seconds, and in three graceful hits, the rose that the man Ai Rui had only started to withdraw floated carefree in three pieces.
Flash forward a few gasping moments of astonishment, and the still-intact head of the rose lay pierced on the raised blade fastened on his wrist.
In triumph, Zifeng transferred his gaze back to his counterpart on the walls.
"Then let us start over, brother Rui, son of Ai Jin. I can see your father within you. I shall entrust you with our true nature. This, to my left is Yu Ban, a man who has assisted me in conflict time and time again. Behind me, He Rin, and on my right flank, Zhu Jun; a close friend, shall I say. Those on horseback behind me are other companions, our brotherhood if you will. As for me, I am of no significance."
He gestured over to the company behind him before continuing.
"We have only a while back -liberated a few prisoners from injustice. They make up those who sit on the wagons. Let us leave it at that. They may finally return to their families."
hello again, luo yang.

As the sun basked over them, Ai Rui found it much easier to see his the band before him. He saw a determination in the man's eyes, but he'd seen eyes like that before. They were the eyes his father possessed; the eyes of a protector not a destroyer. Rui knew that these men meant him no harm, nor did they mean harm for Luo Yang.
He watched in an almost studied manner as his rose was dismantled. Just like the Han, in shambles.
Ai Rui was nearly taken aback when the man mentioned his father. He listened intently to everything the man had to say from that point on. "Well, any friend of my father's would be greatly welcomed in Luo Yang. The people here still remember him well, it explains their hospitality toward me. Come, hurry in and we shall tend to your refugees with haste and care.
Ai Rui grinned and ordered the gates opened. He stared at his new allies with a certain glee. "It has been a great honor to meet you and your companions. I am grateful to not be alone in my little rebellion."

Chronicles of Wei Feng Advent [/u] "As a roof, the land requires a support. As a pillar, the Imperial figurehead requires a base. As a base, you are the very foundation from which the building stands. Your breaking spells the breaking of a nation.
------------------------------------------------------- de ja vu in the flesh.Excellent. Everything seemed to have had proceeded smoothly and without complications. Indeed, this small band of merry men were armed with blessings, and the favor of heaven itself for their acts.
These men, as was common knowledge had not always been as they were today; most were outlawed and misunderstood, before being accepted into the brotherhood. It mattered not their origins, only the here and now, what they would swear to do in the future. They would serve as a beacon of hope for the oppressed and the weak.
i]Zifeng [/i] waved out to the company behind them. The coast was clear, and the gates were open. All without any form of a complication. Cheers were given out by warrior and refugee alike as they eagerly progressed along the stone road towards the great city. They soon arrived at the gates, the wagons arranged in single file. to pass through. The Imperial Warden remained on the side f the road, looking upon his men with a combination of pride and respect as they helped the less fortunate along. Some bore scars along their backs and on their limbs, telling tales of brutality and violence. Zifeng was no stranger to such. Violence had been necessary to free these slaves. He had been forced to kill again along the trip, with the constant irritation of bandits plaguing the countryside. It was no big deal, however for the warden and his men, especially with the heavens on their side. It was a sight to behold, former ruffians helping along the people. Some change, truly was for the better. Zifeng himself, in time, after a majority of the refugees had entered the city rode through the gates. This was a strange sensation, as he examined the evident flamboyance along the sides of the gates in the shape of engraved markings. A comforting sense of de-ja-vu. He reached the other side of the gate before looking up at the man who had opened the gates. "We will be sure to repay your hospitality, brother Rui. Some of our sources within the city, you may even find some in your ranks tell that you are in good standing with the commonfolk. I can see why."About this time the last of the refugees had completed their entry into the city. Some had already gone off to reunite with their loved ones. Zifeng turned to address his small band of warriors scattered around. "Friends, go forth and disband for the time being. You all must receive a well-earned rest. Be wary for the white messenger dove, for then we shall meet again. In respect, those addressed bowed low, before departing to scatter into different parts of the city. The three who had accompanied Zifeng remained behind as his escort. The Imperial Warden's eyes were growing heavy, he had not slept since the skirmish at Si Shui Gate, and had fought much since then. He would wait for Ai Rui to descend the wall to meet him before speaking. "By what you have said, friend, I can gather that your interests lie in a free Luo'yang. I could wish for nothing more. My eyes grow heavy and I must soon retire, but I meet with some associates in a room above the tailor shop in the Rich District. The phrase you must recite to the shopkeeper for entry is lighting the chaos. We can talk further and much more freely there. With that, Zifeng gave a short bow of farewell, before nodding at his escort company. The group turned around together, before leaving the scene. They soon arrived at a tavern, its' owner obviously an associate of Zifeng's, not hesitating to lead them upstairs to the bedrooms. The Imperial Warden would stay in the "room" at the end of the hallway. The distance between the left and right walls was only enough to fit a single bedroll, and a chest behind. It would have to do. Secure, Zifeng relieved himself of his heavy clothing, before collapsing onto the surprisingly comfortable bedroll below, instantly falling back into the arms of Morpheus. Safety at last. Ai Rui listened intently to what this man had to say. The tailor in the Rich District, another one of Ai Rui's allies passed down from his father. How many of this man's comrades did Rui know? Perhaps this man and I have been allies far longer than we realize. How long have his agents been getting me to aid in their plight withing the city?/color]
He watched as the man was welcomed into the tavern for a well earned rest. "We shall meet again my friend, you shall see me in your meetings from here out." Ai Rui smiled with the realization that he'd found the allies he'd been in such great need of.
Rui ascended back to the top of the wall and turn toward his men. "Men, we have found the allies we need in this time of crises. Together with these men, we shall quell the chaos that has devoured the Han and restore the empire to its former glory. With these men and the battle Li Jue and Guo Si face, we will protect this city! We no longer need to fear our fate, for it shall be the one we desire. Rui realized that his speech had raised his men's spirits. I still pray that Cao Cao finds victory here, but such is unlikely and we will most likely have to make a stand here with our allies.
