Talk about the battle phase as a general term here. For instance do the maps work well? should there be a bigger or shorter time limit? Any other ideas on how to make battles run smoother? etc

I think the maps work well on the whole, but distances need to be labeled so we know how far away ranged units can fire from (heights as well)

I will take that into consideration in the next battles by using a glow effect perhaps, showing how far archer attacks can travel as a general guide. Without a good enough knowledge base on such things though, I am very limited in how much I can say, height and distance wise.

Put a scale on the map to show how far you're intending the representation to be. (Say 1 cm = half a mile).

My main concern is simply that I do not trust myself to get within a correct range how many troops could feasibly be within a certain area. I could also see problems occuring with such a representation because of the rivers for instance, if a scale is done, then there could be a large battlefield with an uber wide river system running through it xD I will try and do what I can though

You could always impose a grid over each map, and simply state that soldiers moving at a quick pace can clear X amount of squares in one turn, cavalry can clear 2X, archers can fire to 4X, and other such basic measurements.
You wouldn't need to enforce it, even, simply use it as a basic guideline for just such questions, and it would give everybody a good idea of scale without needing to be overly thought out.
Of course you could take that idea further, but since the site is already up and running there would be no reason to try to change the entire battle formula on an already active site, since that has never turned out well in the past.
And in addition a basic grid as that would help everybody decide defensive positions a little easier as well, since it would provide an actual base for missile range.
Well, think about it. Could be a quick and easy fix. Maybe.
