"Among men, Lü Bu; among horses, Red Hare"
- Cao Cao, in response to Lu Bu's prowess
Name: Lu Bu, Styled Fengxian and nicknamed 'God of War'
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Style: Canon
Residence: Xia Pi
Personality:
Lu Fengxian is known for many things, but that which he is not is stupid or foolish. The persona often used to describe him bares little truth to his own image, and it is for this reason that he is often credited with ill intellect, when in retrospect, Lu Fengxian has actually shown a wide variety of skills and abilities during his many campaigns.
He was nick-named 'The God of War' because of his martial prowess, and was then later deemed as a worthy adversary to anyone who would happen to oppose him. His needs, which usually require some degree of compassion for war, wealth or fame - has often led him to the side of various regional lords, thus crediting him with the side name of 'bastard with three fathers'. The term, although inaccurate - has often led him to mindless conflict, forcing himself in the middle of enemy territory to inact false vengeance.
In conclusion, it would be more accurate to say that Lu Fengxians is hot-headed, and although smart in a sense of warfare, shows little sense in terms of domestic or admisnistrative policies. He is a well renowned fighter, yet allows to be taunted and abused. He is strong, yet is often considered weak within the mind. In all, Lu Bu is many things, but never has he shown foolishness or stupidity in war - only aggression and hastiness.
Appearance:
Lu Fengxian is tall but athletic. It would be inaccurate to say he is overly muscular like some of the other lords of the realm. Instead, he tries his best to keep both a strong physique mixed with a slender, athletic appearance. His face, although blemish free, bares the burdens war often causes, creating a stern, yet defiant look to his already unearthly gaze.
Although hardened by war, Lu Bu is no ugly soldier. In fact it was his initial looks and sencerity to a plea that wedded him to none other than Diao Chan, and ever since the fight with Ding Yuan has he attracted many women to his side.
Apparel/Armour:
Lu Fengxian wears celestial lamellar plated armour, with dragons and other ornate designs scattered sparingly across it. The armour, though fashioned specifically for his own needs, bares a light yet sturdy material, making it easy for him to manoeuvre when in combat. Over the armour he wears a cape that is fashioned in red, gold and black. The cape represents his guardian spirit, the pheonix – and is a symbol of his appearances in battle.
Weapon(s):
Double-sided Halberd.
Lu Bu currently wields a double sided halberd. Yet has aspirations for the legendary Halberd known as 'Trident'. His double-sided halberd is around 6 or so feet, and is fairly heavy to the touch. That being said, Lu Bu can wield it effortlessly, having spent the majority of his career practising that specific type of weapon. The Halberd has a red tassel attached to the side, and is often made of fine materials to represent that the weapon belongs to him.
History:
Contrary to popular belief, Lu Bu was never actually the adopted son of Ding Yuan, nor was he assassinated as a result of the prized horse, Red Hare (though it certainly helped sweeten the deal). In actuality, Lu Bu had disagreements with Ding Yuan – who would use Lu Bu as an excuse to flaunt his domain among the other ministers and regional lords. An example of Ding Yuan's abuse starts at the banquet set by Dong Zhuo, when Ding Yuan openly engaged in conflicts with Dong over the re-election of the Emperor. Though the act he commited was justified, the manner in which he did it suggests his intent to use Lu Bu as the shield and Dagger.
And....in a way, Lu Bu did act, as it was because of him that Dong Zhuo was forced to sheath his sword. But even after the initial confrontation, Ding Yuan kept bringing up Lu Bu as a subject of matter, and eventually resulted with Ding Yuan being demoted and deprived of all rank and fiefdom. Ding Yuan, who was angry with Dong Zhuo for the blatant misuse of power given by the court (but then who wouldn't be angry at being deprived of everything), then sent Lu Bu to fight Dong Zhuo, and that was when Li Su – an old friend of Lu Bu's, approached him on behalf of his own liege lord.
The deal never took place immediately, from what we know, Lu Bu did fight a few skirmishes with Dong Zhuo's army, and after a few mindless victories, was then persuaded to switch sides. So Lu Bu did eventually kill Ding Yuan, and the stories of him presenting his former masters head are also accurate, but he did the act for self-preservation. Lu Bu aspires only to be a feared warrior, and follows those who he believes can achieve greatness with him. Ding Yuan showed cowardice and insubordination, and as a result – was slain.
After Ding Yuan's demise, Lu Bu continued his service of Dong Zhuo, and was later promoted to chief-commander and military general. He defeated the alliance, but was then tricked by ministers Wang Yan and Ba Zeng to fall in love with Diao Chan, an act that – although based on deceit, was something that when he later found out about, cared little for.
Diao Chan was the very emblem of beauty, passion, song and dance – and although the marriage forged was originally fake, he could see that both parties had fallen in love, and that was when he was forced, rather abundantly, to fight over Dong Zhuo for the woman’s hand of marriage.
Lu Bu confronted Dong Zhuo later on, and it was then that he was told that Diao Chan would become an imperial mistress for the Emperor to wed and have children with. Though annoyed, he was ready to drop the issue. It was not until after being deceived by Dong Zhuo – who had actually stolen Diao Chan and confined her to his own chambers, that Lu Bu ever acted out against him. Which resulted with the mans death, something that later credited him with the rank of 'General of martial Might'.
Sadly, the peace that he had inadvertently created, would not last long - as remnants of Dong's army would later slay Wang Yun and seize the capital, and with Diao Chan and Ba Zeng, Lu Bu would lead a life of solitude outside of the city, planning only to live in peace with his wife. His ambitions for world domination soon eased from his mind, until of course Diao Chan and Ba Zeng hired him able officers and generals. Tricked again – Its is said that Lu Bu was forced to lead a group of ronins and scattered warriors, and went to serve Yuan Shao.
His stay with Shao lasted only a few months from what we know, as he was chased out by Yan Liang and Wen Chou, who, jealous of Lu Bu's power, horse and wife – sent wave after wave of taunts and insults to his household. Enraged, Lu Bu was forced to quit camp and retreat, for fear of brining harm upon those he cherished most.
Once Cao Cao, Lu Bu's former enemy, moved his armies to attack Li Jue and Guo Si – Lu Bu made his first distinct move in history. He attacked the left over city of Xia Pi, which had been occupied by Liu Bei who had joined under Cao Cao's banner of protection. Defeated, Liu Bei was forced to flee from the region, and Lu Bu had began to settle his army whilst mass recruiting those within the province of Xu. Before Cao Cao had time to turn his army around, Xu province was heavily defended by the armies of Lu Bu's Xu Province, and a war was soon to become inevitable.
Now we are at present times, and it is still unknown how Cao Cao will act to Lu Bu's sudden conquest.
